Yes, today's sophisticated child is engaged far more by mechanical petals that expand up your jacksi than by faux scooby-doo skits...

There is a chorus of disapproval for the cheesey VTs, and quite rightly so. Mind you, I was watching the show last night with a non-Strictly-watching friend who mock grumbled 'Any rugby on the other side?', seconds before Flavia and Russell took to the rugby field. Ta-da! See? Strictly has everything you could require on a Saturday night!

Awful, lazy, cheaply made, a waste of the couples training time, just get-rid!

She looks very pretty and relaxed. Then on Saturday they have shoved her into some monstrousity and ladled half a ton of slap on her. That wig last night was just horrible.”

Did I miss the bit where they said that?

I suppose it could be or perhaps Holly's friend Princess Beatrice got daddy to supply a helicopter. We know he doesn't give a toss about costs.

BTW I like Holly.

They're successfully ramping the quality down from cringeworthy to excrutiating.

I have only ever seen two thread on DS Strictly board that there was universal agreement .This one and the common hatred for Chris de Burgh .

... and unlike Lisa & Brendan's showdance the VTs were bad, but not in a good way...

The annoying thing is that even if they don't want to show them "in training" there are so many other alternatives:

Clips of ITT
Use the eliminated pro dancers to show what the dance should involve
Follow Len or Bruno's week going to and from DWTS
Show old clips of classic dances - would love to see eg Jill Halfpenny's jive again (although it would obviously show up the current bunch)
Show old clips of what pros/Bruno/Craig/Bruce etc have done in yesteryear.
Follow some sort of kids competion showing them doing some of the dances.

The list is endless, but please anything but what we are getting now.

Couldn't agree more.

Moira Ross, are you listening?

Or do you not care any more now you are leaving the show and are quite happy to foist this tripe on the audience?

They are dreadful, on the whole. And how long do these segments take to film? Surely it's a day out of training for them when they have to travel to a location to film, it takes longer than what we see on TV obviously.

Yes, infantile. I would be happy if they just went from dance to dance, with just the judges comments and marks between them. I don't care about their practising - I just want to see the result of the work. I assume they are practising, I don't need to see it.

Ghaaaastly, darling, strictly ghaaaaastly.
But there seems to be no human being yet born who can talk sense into the producers of Strictly to scrap these timefillers.

totally agree and last nights was so OTT with every single couple doing something crappy, dont mind if it is one with a chessy vt and the rest of the dancers show their rehearsals well show anything apart from this cheesy rubbish, or interview them for longer afterwards or stick in an extra pro dance

They are dreadful, they are worse than the XF sob story VTs. I don't mind the VTs if they show someone has had an injury, has not been able to rehearse as much (e.g. the one of Chelsee on the set of Waterloo Road) or if they show their friends/family at rehearsal (McFly visiting Harry, Chelsee's family etc.) I just can't handle the little 'inspiration trips'. Who cares. Stop filling up the show with useless crap.

Perhaps the beeb can take them to a corrida for a Paso, an American base in Afghanistan for a Jive, fly 'em to Argentina for the tango, Cuba for a salsa... but no, all they'll get is a couple of hours freezing their b*****ks off in Chipping Norton

I agree. And some of them do not have enough time to rehearse at times(especially Chelsee, Alex...).This is a waste of time for them especially when they should be rehearsing.
Who thought this was a good idea ?

Whoever came up with the idea of these really embarrasing VT's instead of showing genuine training footage should really hang their head in shame.
It's probably the same person who thought Jennifer Grey would be a good idea.

I think Lulu may well have deserved to go on account of the VT with the mop and the balloon!

I'm getting a bit like this, I've watched it live as it goes out on Saturday night only twice so far this series otherwise I watch it on iPlayer and just skip to the dance bits.

My OH and I loathe those silly VT skits. It seems everyone hates them. Are you listening BBC? Get rid of them!
