I really can't see what everyone is so excited about. For me, he is a good dancer, but far from exciting. I'm sure he is a good looking lad and a great drummer, but a bit overmarked in my humble opinion. Having said all that, I'm sure he will be in the final 3 and most probably win

He's been the best dancer from the start as well as the most promising one. He's one of the very few contestants I like watching this series. I do think he has a bit too much tension in his hands and his face, but if he's able to let go he's going to be by far the best dancer.

He and Aliona make a great pair to watch physically, but sadly I don't think she's the best teacher to teach him what he needs to learn. In fact, apart from Erin, almost every other female teacher would have been better for him.

Harry could dance to the chicken song and he would get a standing ovationhe is nothing special at all, certainly not the best dancer, Jason and Chelsee are much better.
Most of Harrys dance is posing, I never see anything too technical or difficult and I cannot understand the judges favoratism towards him.His routines are also very boring, too little dance content.
Saying all that he is a lovely guy, and I dont mind him in the slightest, Dont like his pro though, not at all.

I'm not feeling the Harry love either. How is he the best male dancer ever???
Have we actually seen him dance as though his very life depended on it -- No passion, no fire, no desire.

I agree OP. He is probably a much better dancer technically than Jason or Robbie - but does not throw himself into it as much as they do. I like him, and mostly enjoy his dances with Aliona but they don't wow me. Also - Bruno drooling over him is nearly as bad as Arlene used to be with Mark Ramprakash!

I'm afraid its mostly cos everyone fancies him and he keeps getting his top off.

He's not that great, I think that Jason, Chelsee and perhaps Holly are above him. If we have a male winner this yr I'd rather have Jason...

Another non Harry fan. Last night may have shown how Aliona has in reality been hiding his shortcomings very well (rather than her being just a show dance choreographer).

I maybe set the bar lower for Harry than some because he has no dance or performance background. We saw with Ola that with one weeks training his Paso was not that special, so I think Harry just needs enough time training to be able to reach his potential.

Didn't they get 6 weeks training with their celeb before their first dance a few years ago? I think for someone like Harry a 6 weeks lead in instead of the 2 weeks he and Aliona got would have helped give him a chance to get some training in basic techniques and make for a more level playing field.

I'm hoping as the weeks go on, Harry will be able to learn new dances faster, otherwise he will find two dances a week a big problem.

But how do you know he has no dance back ground? And I know he's the drummer, but he absolutely does have a performance background... he's on stage all the time and constantly getting his top off in music vids.

Looking at him dance I feel he is from a dance background, whether that's just from doing the odd bit of theatre as a child or attending a dance school. He definitely looks like he has some though

He and Holly both leave me cold. I don't know why.

I agree with this. Her downfall was that she could have used all the faff to hide his shortcomings in Samba had she not been using them in the weeks before. Had she done it again this week, I think the pitchforks would have come out.

Harry is boring. He has no personality when he dances whatsoever. He's just there as teen-fodder. And with Aliona dancing round him and wiggling her bits, she's bloke fodder.

The dream team.

He's a bit bland in the personality stakes for me and as a result his dancing feels a bit cold. I hear he's shy so maybe that's it, but if that's the case he's got to learn how to perform on the dance floor a bit more, show a bit more emotion. Maybe that's his 'journey' and they'll drag out the acting coach again

Not really getting all the gushing over his looks either, but then again I didn't get the Ramps Love either *hides* Why, when you have all the male pros wriggling their hips over there?!

I'm glad its not just me then. When I saw the first reply I got, I thought 'Oh dear. I'll get me coat'

He's OK but doesn't seem to sparkle and at the end of the day, getting your top off isn't soley the best dance move'

I do like him and enjoy his performance, but the best dancer ever? Thats debatable

I'm not that fussed about Holly either, but think she is slightly better than Harry. However, Holly always just looks bored, like she was forced on stage and made to do the dance against her will.

Its also a bit cringy how they keep trying to make her into the eye candy, when she's clearly gained a lot of weight since she was a popstar. Don't get me wrong she's not exactly obese and has a stunning face... but she doesn't even seem to be losing any of that belly flab.

BIB for me too- and I didn't think I would say that but at least Jason's dancing is better and he is doing proper choreography ie includes the required elements.

Erin's one of the best teachers on Strictly!

Otherwise I agree - he has a not insignificant amount of natural talent, similar to Chelsee and more than Holly and Jason, certainly. He does just seem a bit restrained, like he's not quite enjoying dancing - compared, say, to someone like Chelsee who just sparkles with energy even when she's not technically as refined as she could be.

I like Aliona and of course all the pros do a great job with their celebs. I do think, though, that for his level of talent, she could do more with him - her content-lite routines are of course well-trodden ground on DS, but also things like how she dances ballroom with her celeb; she's very fluid in her top line which doesn't help a learner dancer (she may be to ballroom what Anton is to Latin - now that'll get people riled )

The one in Mcfly who looks the most like Michael J Fox is there for the same reason as Chelsee...to appeal to the younger demographic...

I thought it was just me! I just don't get the praise and excitement over him. He does get the technique right most of the time (on the rare occasions Aliona gives him any) but he is incredibly boring.

After last night I now think that Aliona has been giving him less dance content and more faffing as that was the only way to make the dance interesting. The samba had more dance steps in it but it wasn't fun or partyish at all.

I am sure he is a lovely person and I am sure that if that kind of bloke is your type (a bit Ken-like - the Barbie doll boyfriend) then it must be thrilling to see him and his chest. I just can't see what the fuss is about. I do, however, really hope something clicks for him and he unleashes some inner emotion and brings it to the dance as he could be great.

Agree. I thought he was very stilted last night, he doesn't dance just moves between steps. Am also very surprised Craig hasn't commented on his ugly hands. Seems like a very nice boy though.

I think they (Production) are playing around with the front runners, alternating 'flavour of the week'.
I agree Harry and Chelsee will be staying (hence Harry's high marks) to lure in the younger viewers, difference being Chelsee is very watchable and turning into a great wee dancer.

His band mates say he has never danced in his life.

I wouldn't call myself a non fan and I even enjoy watching him dancing, but I also feel that there is something everyone else seems to be seeing and I am not. Although this thread shows I am not the only one!

Agree totally in everything you have said Pisces.
Excellent assessment IMO
