Glancing down the list of Satellite sub-forums, it strikes me that perhaps DS should now be using the same naming scheme for Freesat sub-forums as for Sky? This would therfore emphasize the HD aspect, which is of increasing importance when people make a decsion about what to buy.

So we would have:

Freesat
Discuss TV services available from Freesat, the free satellite TV service from ITV and the BBC.

Freesat+ HD (or Freesat HD PVRs etc.)
Discuss Freesat HD and all Freesat personal video recorders

I think this would be a more consistent way of naming the discussion forums among the two platforms, making it clearer that Freesat provides HD services as does Sky. Yes it's primarily a naming exercise but it might make things a bit clearer for newcomers?

It's already done in a similar way in the Cable/Virgin forum but like Freesat, Freeview is also lagging behind; I just think all platforms providing HD and PVRs should have their sub-forums organised and named in the same way on DS. Does anyone agree?

It should either be Freesat+ or Freesat HD or Freesat+ and Freesat HD.

There is no such thing as Freesat+ HD.

Well yes, and the exact name (if we want to try and get DS to do it) is open to discussion of course.

I've modified my post slightly to account for this - but the most important aspect I think is to get HD into the title.

Anyway, what about this page on the freesat website? It's called:

freesat+ HD TV recorder

The major snag I reckon is that a reception issue will be posted in different locations purely down to what type of box the poster has.

As SD Freesat+ pvrs simply don't exist there's no real need for the HD bit.

Personally I think it's fine as it is.
When I joined these forums I found things easily enough.

It may be "fine as it is" as two of you have now said, and i too am used to it - but it is inconsistent.

I see nothing special (or different) about Sky that warrants a different naming scheme for its TV forums compared to Freesat or Freeview (or any other major TV platform these days). Not mentioning the very important HD aspect in the relevant forum name(s) is an anachronism, it seems to me.

I'm a bit surprised that anyone can't see that but obviously, I'm not going to take it any further if nobody agrees.

I withdraw that as the Freesat web site does list Freeview+ HD recorders.

And I've never understood why we have a Sky Broadband forum under satellite and a Virgin Broadband under cable. Why aren't these under broadband? The Sky and Virgin phone services are discussed under the generic 'Landline Phones and VoIP Services' forum, which is located with the broadband category.
