Why were Westlife shouting??

Two nays from me.

I thought the results show was a Bruce-free zone. I hope this isn't the start of a regular slot. I could just about tolerate Westlife but I turned off the sound and went to make a cup of tea while Bruce was on.

This. Don't like Westlife to start off with and at times in their song I was actually cringing from the level of the vocals. Bruce, whatever he might mess up on the night, is a consummate pro and all round entertainer and I love the big band style.

I get puzzled with Bruce's choice of songs. He's got a good voice that suits the band - but his songs never 'get going'. Has his range gone, maybe...?

Brucie was good. Westlife... The sooner they b*gger off into retirement the better.

That wouldn't surprise me at all if he's lost the top notes so you don't get the "big finish" that you'd expect with some of the big band songs.

hmmm...think shouty westlife bloke didn't do the singing on the original...think it was Kerry 'bugger i lost the Iceland contract' Katona's ex Bryan Mcfadden...he was a better singer (if I remember correctly, but am a rock chick so maybe wrong!!)
Brucie was ok, but didn't he leave the singing to the final in previous seasons??? seems he has a CD to sell...at least the beeb could have warned us!!!

Nay to both. In fact, nay to all singing until they can find a decent singer to come on.

And Strictly is not, repeat not, the Bruce Forsyth show

Westlife..nay. A dull. boring, snoozefest.
Sir Brucie..what can you say ? He's 83 and can still dance and sing..a bit. I don't mind once every series, but don't make it a habit.

Westlife not bad, a big yay for Sir Bruce.

Rather embarrassingly, I loved Westlife (I don't normally - but that song is one my little boy used to sing and so I love it!)

and Sir Bruce - yes, he's getting a bit crumbly and all that, but blimey, to still be able to work at 83 or whatever he is, is to be applauded.

Was impressed with him helping Holly too - that vid of him "jiving" wasn't at all bad!

so....yes to him singing on the show - I think he's worked hard and is coming to the end, and I think it's nice to accord respect and to let him have a moment.

I can't comment on Bruce as the mute button was deployed.

Westlife were .......Westlife. I can think of no higher praise/scorn.

They were both horrendous. Thank God westlife are retiring, just wish Bruce F would do the same

Brucie was and still is a true professional in the world of show business - it comes naturally to him to sing and dance and above all to entertain.

I loved it - well done mate

I thought Westlife were quite good, and it was dancerless in distraction.

Brucie he is just amazin for his age. A true national treasure. But, I do hope that they dont take his vocal chords out for dusting too often

Neither Westlife or Bruce have voices of any quality. I've heard better on the X Factor.

Westlife were/are awful. Bruce did a solid job, though that style won't appeal to the masses.

Brucie was OK.
But I would rather have a spot from the band (lights up etc) than have visiting singers.

Westlfe - Nay, nay and thrice nay. Watched in fast forward, expecting some dance routine in front of them - it never materialised, so at least I didn't have to listen to the soulless wailings of whatever song they murdered.

Bruce - Nay. There is a reason why you're best known as a game show host Bruce.

Who dropped out for them to rope in Brucie last minute??

Nay to Westlife - half a Yay to Brucie (as it was past his bedtime).

Westlife - yay-ish. Not my kind of music, but better than Subo or The Wanted

Well, to be fair, Bruce is actually best known for being an annoying old dinosaur who once did very naff game shows and thinks he's a classic song & dance man.

Despite disliking boy/girl band music they were miles better than those insipid lads The (un)Wanted. So a half-yay.

As for Brucie, I don't know what he bothered? I can understand it's a 'tradition' for him to sing in the final, but why now and it felt somewhat like a random addition to the show.
