If I could jolly well get to his age and host one of the major shows on TV, tap dance and sing......

Well, I would not be too unhappy.

He may not be the best in the world, but I'd rather watch him than many others.

I find some of the comments on the other thread rather offensive....why should he sod off and play golf if the BBC are willing to employ him and showbiz is in his soul?

All I know is, he seems a happy man, with a happy life and good on ya Sir Bruce.

Me too. Agree with every word. It wouldn't be Strictly without him.

I agree. Good Post and Strictly would not be the same without Sir Bruce....

I agree with you too, Strictly is part of him. I much prefer to watch him knowing he worked hard in theatre for seven days a week over many years to get his breaks not like others who get instant "fame" and "Wealth" by appearing on a talent show and not lasting 5 minutes after apart from Susan Boyle.

There are not many performers left who we can say worked to their fame the hard way on their own merit, so long live Sir Bruce and may he continue to do Strictly for as long as he enjoys it and I certainly don't mind my licence money going towards his fee!

This is what the Beeb do best, give us long term proper entertainers, what have the other side got - wall to wall reality nobodies.

Love Bruce he can do it all & he's in his 80's, half of us wont even see our 80's let alone be able to do some soft shoe. This is a man whos hosted family entertainment shows for decades, long may it continue.

I think I have found the 6 people who will buy the new CD that Bruce was pluggiing on Strictly tonight.

lol. No his brand of singing and dancing is not my thing but I agree with the posts on here. He does great, and was always the ideal host to have launched SCD and made it what it is. He has made no secret of the fact that he loves singing and dancing and I reckon we shouldn't much begrudge him the occasional indulgence.
SCD stil retains a slight touch of gentility which will be lost if and when someone else hosts it.

He is often reported as being not the most pleasant of celebs when out of the spotlight - has an overweening sense of his self importance.

his knighthood not as well deserved as K given to other entertainers who've done a lot more for society - especially for charity.

I do not see why an octogenarian is hosting a show in a manner more befitting the 1950s than the second decade of the second Millennium. He is past his prime, past his shelf life, past his bed time and past it, presentation wise. His personal life, good or bad, does not affect this opinion.

His jokes on Saturday night and his rudeness to the guest judge, and the appalling way in which he inserts himself into the judging, reveal that he is definitely not a gentleman.

I love Bruce, ok he may not be perfect and a bit up himself but he's one of the "old school" and he'll do for me.

Good for you, there's no need to say sorry, Sir Bruce is a much loved legend and he gives a great deal of pleasure to so many people with his performances, I think he is amazing still being able to entertain at the top level like he does.

His jokes are scripted and when was he rude to the guest judge? The programme would definitely be weaker without him.

Aye! Can't stand him and I watch Strictly in spite of dear, dear Brucie... I have the finger on the mute button and as soon as he's doing his bit to camera and milking every joke for all it's worth and more the mute button is used. He's well past his sell-by date. And yes, he does come across as being exceedingly nasty all too often and rather more than full of his own sense of his own importance. The host on Dancing With The Stars does the job so much better. Dear, dear Brucie appears to think that Strictly is the Bruce Forsyth Show and it's not.

Personally I mute him every time he opens his mouth. Worst part of the show for me.

I don't mind him at all, I recall Julian Clary being mooted for the job a couple of seasons back, but it never did materialise. Although I still suspect he's the one that will eventually step into the role.

I can't say that fills me with joy.

To be fair, I watched Bruce as I was growing up, what with the generation game and play your cards right etc - He was/is a fixture of Saturday night entertainment shows.

I do understand the dislike, he's from another era, people think he's old hat, doddery, rude and arrogant... I get that, but it doesn't get in the way of my enjoyment of the show.

I wouldn't buy his cd, but likewise, I don't need to mute the guy when he speaks - Its a fine line between which one of those two things is more weird
