he is starting to lose been able to read an autocure now which is ruining the bad jokes punchlines.

But I still can't think who would replace him.

I feel bad that the OP feels they have to apologise for liking anyone - if we all thought the same thing then the world would be very boring and Michael McIntyre would probably present every show on telly

I generally find Bruce exceptionally ignore-able, but I did love the 'Jen's Lens' clip of him on Sunday dancing with Holly when she was practising without Artem. He actually wasn't bad - recognisable synchro with Holly rather than his usual daft shuffle - and it seemed like a nice unscripted moment (oddly, Bruce is usually much better off-script for me )

I agree. His singing, though not spectacular, wasn't as bad as some people made it out to be. Still, I wish someone would replace him ASAP. His scripted presenting, except the one done before Chelsee and Pasha's Charleston VT, was dire.

LOL! Quite. I am quite bemused at the rash of posts about muting or fast forwarding when a particular person speaks Sometimes they might irritate but I struggle to find anyone that offensive to put down my glass of wine and knitting to search for the mute button

I'm beginning to wonder if Brucie has money worries? Why else would you keep on inflicting yourself on the public when you'd lost everything you ever had (charm, talent and any kind of wit), apart from your marbles.

And bringing out a CD? Que? For which market pray?

I do not wish him any ill, but I really do not understand why he goes on and on when a large majority of people really can't stand him and he has become a bit of a parody of himself.

Where is his self respect. A little dignity please?

If I were his (very beautiful) wife I'd have dragged him off the stage and taken him home. Mind you, judging by that documentary they did on him, he is a tetchy, arrogant old bully who never listens to anyone, even her.

I want to be entertained when I am watching TV and listening to brain dead commentary (Tosspit) or frankly rude, clumsy tasteless comments (Bruce) is not something I feel I should tolerate. My mute button is close by and I don't knit.

No need to say sorry when you love someone. I've feel as if I've grown up with Brucie and I'm now 63. He's a complete professional and highly entertaining. He comes with the whole Strictly package and I couldn't imagine the programme without him. Keep going Brucie.

If you do not wish Sir Bruce any ill, its strange that you start your message with insinuations about his financial status.

Sir Bruce deserves more respect from you, there is no need to start unfounded rumours like this about a legend in his own lifetime, I am sure you will realize that your comment is an oversight and correct it to avoid him any distress if he is reading this.

TBH, most public personas end up becoming a self-parody eventually. Look at Craig, often his real, genuine opinions are greeted with silence if they aren't a total slating, because people are confused, all they expect from him is a barage of criticisms. Same with Bruce, all he can be now is what everyone expects him to be or it's 'wrong'.

I wouldn't say the majority can't stand him though. I don't think we have any way of knowing for sure but I think people are more than when it comes to Bruce. He's not my cup of tea but I agree with many here that there really isn't anyone on his level from a certain POV and it's going to be tough to replace him when he does step down.

There have been no problems with replacing some of the pro dancers; There has been no problem with slotting Zoe in for Claudia for ITT2 which is a show that depends 100% on its presenter. So why on earth do people make such a song and dance (sorry!) about replacing 50% of a presenting team, particularly when it's the weaker half?

Bemused

Another Bruce fan speaking!!

He's a bit like marmite, you either love him or hate him, but he adds a unique quality to the show which makes it stand apart from all the humdrum, run'o'the'mill clones out there.

I remember that in his day he was a real master. No-one could work an audience better (the nearest anyone ever came was Michael Barrymore at his peak). He's not as quick as he was back then, but he still supplies warmth and an old fashioned nostalgic vibe that adds an extra dimension to Strictly,

Really not a fan but being irritated by someone is one of the joys(??) of reality tv...Otherwise, why would so many people take their fun by coming on here to vent their ire?

And most, of not all, of the suggested replacements have made me feel quite ill, so I'm not shoving him out the door just yet. At least he's earned his chops over the years. (Just don't let him sing again )

Sir Bruce is unique, your right, he's always at his best when he's ad libbing.

My choice would be Angela Rippon, the Queen of presenters, who has been doing this for over 40 years and still has unfailing grace and charm. The trouble is she would bring a touch of class to the proceedings, which would probably not suit this determinedly lowbrow show.

I think it says a lot about this forum that you have to apologise for liking someone.

SCD stil retains a slight touch of gentility which will be lost if and when someone else hosts it.”

Well said I may spend a lot of time cringing at his jokes but I do like the fact he is there. Long may he reign and will be sad if he is replaced by some slick young presenter .....or John barrowman

It certainly does unfortunately.

I don't think it's a matter of people hating Bruce that makes them complain about him. In my case it is the embarrassment I feel when comparing his bumbling through the SCD scripts against the heights of Sunday Night at the London Palladium and The Generation Game.

Well, why don't we just line up the BBC Newsreaders, pick out Fiona Bruce and one presentable male who looks good from any profile, and leave it at that?
Job done.

Sir Bruce proved that he is still at the height of his powers by his majestic command of the 6,000 at Wembley, they All loved him.
