The Scottish public never got a chance to vote as they were all out at the Glasgow Green Firework Display.Thats all I am trying to say.

Surley even you can see how that is unfair on Scotlands Treasure?
What ALL of them bloody hell, that must be some huge display, nightmare policing I'd imagine, crowd control for about 5 million people

Ah, the sour grapes of delusion. She consistently went wrong week after week. Should have gone before last night to be fair.

Its well known that the Scots all celebrate Guy Fawks night as second only to the great Rabbie Burns night. We take it very serous as we know what it was about

The rest of the UK tends to just take it as an excuse to eat loads of burgers off made from the bonfire and barbecues

This is why the Lulu fans couldn't get to the phone

Also I know of many fans who did not realsie the voting was only going to be on for 20 mins last night. The Glasgow Branch of the Lulu fan club was at the Glasgow Green fireworks party and wasnt aware that the voting was finishing early last night

This is not on BBC.Very unfair
Haven't mobile phones made their way up to Scotland yet?

I'm English and I live in Scotland and from my experience Bonfire night is celebrated less here than when I lived in England...........before I get shot, it's just my experience!

Very funny OP, I actually think some people took you serioulsy.

Actually I don't think the Scots like Lulu much, my husband is Scottish and a few years older than Lulu and he says she was never very well liked.
I am sure you could write the same just about any singer not being very well liked by many people.

It was incredibly crowded, particularly when everyone tried to get their special tin mobiles out and realised that they couldn't vote for Lulu because of the lack of reception.

You should have been there, everyone was cursing and singing "shout", it wasn't a pretty sight.

Spoiler

So the ardent fans of Lulu chose to go to a Guy fawkes night which happens every year instead of watching their idol who was only in the competition this year ?

It's a wonder you weren't trampled to death in the riot of anger, it's lucky they couldn't get through on the phones to find result. I'm so glad you escaped without harm!

I think now you are just being a little silly with this comment.Would appreciate if you kept the comments on this thread to more sensible debate about this issue

I would imagine that a fairly large proportion of Scottish people are blissfully unaware that Lulu was born in Scotland.
Including Lulu herself.

Its a shame that in one of Scotland's most important days of the year Guys Fawks night the majority of Scotland was at Bonfire parties and therefore never got a chance to save Scotland's Treasure

Shame on you BBC for putting SCD on in a day when you know a whole country wont be in to vote

I think this is a disgrace and demand a re-count

They new that Lulu supporters would be out last night yet still carried on with the show regardless

Gutted
this is a joke right i lept up and down when her name was called out with joy

No she wasn't well liked as far as I know either

The toilets were unimaginable and I am only just on my way back to Aberdeen after getting away. The thought of poor Lulu being deserted in her hour of need brings tears to a glass eye.

Oh just a minute there are mobile phones here in Scotland.

Yes, obviously, the population of each country should be given every opportunity to vote for celebs of the same nationality. Since it necessarily follows - Scottish: vote Lulu.

Strictly will now have to do something about the time difference between Australia and the UK. Otherwise Jason and Holly will be unfairly disadvantaged.

Strictly will now have to do something about the time difference between Australia and the UK. Otherwise Jason and Holly will be unfairly disadvantaged.
And the producers will have to ensure equal numbers of each nationality so as not to split the vote.

That would be because they were being serious, just take a look at the rest of their posts, although, actually, I wouldn't really recommend it as they're a tad delusional.

Everyone knows the Scots would vote for a steaming turd if it had a whiff of a Scottish accent. Thank heavens they were preoccupied on Saturday.

Many Scots can be very parochial and turn against anyone who is successful outside Scotland.

Though Sean Connery seems to get away with being a tax exile.

Must be a bit boring having all the fireworks coloured green. Perhaps got a job lot cheap in Lidl.

(Of course, there is a whole 'political' subtext to the idea of having only green fireworks in Glasgow, on a night which commemorates an act with similar 'political' subtexts. )

Not that any of that is a fraction as entertaining as your post!! Loved it!
