Yeah, I don't quite understand that one either.
Perhaps Tom2323434 could explain how the celebration of a failure to blow up the English Parliament, by an English person, is of any relevance whatsoever to Scotland? Quote:

I agree with the OP that it was unfair that Lulu was evicted on a Scottish public holiday. She should have been evicted on an English one so I could have enjoyed the occasion even more

I got to say I am now slightly concerned how this post is turning out. This is not supposed to be a debate about the merits of the Scottish holiday Guy Fawkes night or why he wanted to blow up parliament etc. This debate is supposed to be about the BBC's continually biased against Scotland when it comes to national events like SCD etc and how we Scots are always made to feel like second class citizens in our own supposed Utd Country.
The fact that the BBC has not even made a statement about this farcical situation that led to Lulu being eliminated from last weeks competion just I fear prove me and my fellow Scots points about the obvious bias against Scotland Even if you don’t like Lulu surely most fair minded people on this forum can see the merits in Scotland complaining about the unjust way the vote was carried out last Saturday. We just want a more fairer voting system for future SCD series |

Who do we write to? Who's my MP? Who's up for marching on the BBC? ![]() Oh you're talking about that botoxed, fake, caterwauling harpy! I withdraw my objection! ![]() ![]()

In actual fact he was so skint he couldn't afford to buy any, so a whole bunch of people on Glasgow Green took pity on him and opened up some fireworks and tipped out the gunpowder. This act of kindness is now commemorated every year when the entire population of Scotland congregates there to celebrate their selflessness.

"We want our powder back", so loud that it was heard in Edinburgh. Upon mis-hearing, shrewd Alex Salmond decided to side with popular opinion, so he lost no time in going to the Scottish parliament and demanding: "We want our power back."

Hello - why was the vote unfair? Why is Scotland the butt of such prejudice? Could it be that the Scots don't wear pants under their kilts, or put salt in their porridge? The vote is the same for England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales - so get over it you sad, delusional little man. Most people don't like bloody Lulu and I am wondering why you are getting your knickers in a twist - or are you wearing a kilt today?

Tom2512,
I can understand that you are a fan of Lulu - the wee scottish bird. In fact are you an ornathologist? If so, surely a more fitting name would be Tomtit2512? I agree with you - I think the BBC planned it so that Lulu was at a disadvantage - her talent was unappreciated, just as you are. Good luck in your mission to educate these naive hatahs! |

As a person of Scottish extraction, I have never considered 5th November as a "scottish holiday" Seems I'm right Quote:
When are the public holidays in Glasgow? However I look forward to the Scottish Parliament announcingIn general, Glasgow (and Scotland*) has the following statutory bank holidays: 1st January - Ne'ers or New Year's day 2nd January - Scottish New Year holiday Easter Good Friday May day holiday (first Monday in May) Spring Holiday (last Monday in May) Glasgow 'Fair Monday' (third Monday in July) August holiday (first Monday in August) 25the December Christmas day 26the Dec Boxing day "The Day that Tom2512 gets banned from DS" as a public holiday to celebrate the proud Scottish people being free of the embarrassing and inaccurate drivel that Tom spouts on their behalf. |

'more fairer'
I quote. I thought teaching standards in Scotland were supposed to be high. Oh, well. The pupils can't always be the brightest, I suppose. |

And once more, Guy Fawkes night is not an English, Welsh, Scottish or N Irish holiday, it's a commemeration, celebrated primarily in England. If it was a holiday I'd get the bloody day off work,

Holiday or not, Guy Fawkes is the biggest night of the year in Lewes, Sussex with thousands of locals parading through the streets carrying torches and burning crosses. The whole town rises in uproar with all manner of pagan instincts combining with assorted causes. Marchers converge at a huge bonfire where they burn the pope in effigy. Tourists come from miles away.

oooh spooky, I'm sure that I posted on a thread started by TomTit about who the scots are going to vote for suggesting they should suddenly turn to the welsh contingent etc etc - it has disappeared. I wonder why this one hasn't been pulled as well maybe it's the comedic value???
