Of course no-one can definitively say, but this is the best I have ever witnessed. The saxaphone is a marvellous instrument in the right hands, isn't it? And Pee Wee Ellis is that man here.

PS I'm expecting no more than 40 views and no responses on this thread but it only took out 4.5 mins of my day.

Nothing beats the solo from T'Pau - China in your hand.

Haha, jokes.

Sax is wonderful, but I don't know enough songs that feature saxophones... save for Careless Whisper.

A bit of light entertainment for you all.

Almost everything ever recorded by Junior Walker and the All Stars is worth checking out to hear great saxophone playing.

that reminds me of the time that i saw maceo play a 6 hour set that i thought was never going to end. he went on at midnight to a few hundred people and come 6am there were about 20 people left, which about half of them literally lying on the floor. even the soundguy had his feet up on the desk, lying back

That was a rumour that went viral even before twitter was a twinkle in its inventors eye. IIRC someone famous started it, din't they? Anyway, I believe the real sax player was Rav Ravenscroft. And it WAS great but I've never heard him live so can't compare to Pee Wee Ellis' incredible playing.

According to Wikipedia it was Stuart Maconie that started the rumour whilst working at the NME in the '80s.

That's it! I remember reading an interview with him once and he admitted starting the rumour. A classic!

That would be Tim Capello, who was also the sax player for some of Tina Turner's songs e.g:

Fantastic song that I had forgotten about. The sax player is Claire Hirst who performed with many 80's bands and was part of Live Aid. Here is a recent live version of Will You
