Hi, I'm just making a cd of power ballads and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me. So far I have.......

1-Aerosmith- I don't wanna miss a thing
2- Meatlove- I would do anything for love
3- Wet Wet Wet- Love Is All Around
4- Sinead O'Connor- Nothing Compares
5- John Lennon- Imagine
6- Bryan Adams- Everything I Do
7- M Jackson- Earth Song
8- REM- Everybody Hurts
9- Percy Sledge- When A Man Loves A Woman
10- W Housten- I Will Always Love You
11- Police- Every Breath You Take
12- Stevie Wonder- I Just Called To Say I Love You
13- Beatles- Something
14- 3 Times A Lady
15- Starship- Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now
16- Bon Jovi- Always.
17- Leo Sayer- When I Need You
18- Righteous Brothers- Unchained Melody
19- Robbie- Angels

I want to make it as good as I can and I know I will have missed out a few great ones that have just managed to escape me! So I was wondering if anyone could make any suggestions for me? Thanks!

I'd hardly call a fair few tracks on the current list power ballads, but that's not to say it ain't looking good

I'd be tempted to add Shiver by Coldplay, Come Back Around by Feeder, and maybe Just Looking by Stereophonics.

A couple more obscure ones that are well worth investigation -

The Tubes - Don't Wanna Wait Anymore (amazing song - why Pondlife or Blue haven't dug this one out for a shameless re-record is anyone's guess)

Heart - Wait For An Answer (5 key changes in one song and utterly overblown pomp - marvellous stuff)

Magnum - When The World Comes Down (cracking tune - makes you want to wave your hand theatrically just like Bob Catley)

Whitesnake - 'Fool for your loving' & 'Is this love'
John Waite - Missing You
Cutting Crew - I just died in your arms tonight
Mr Mister - Broken Wings
Toto - 'Hold the Line' & 'I Won't hold you back'
Bon Jovi - 'Never say Goodbye' & 'I'd Die for you'
Heart - 'These Dreams' & 'Alone'
Richard Marx - Right here waiting
Foreigner - Waiting for a girl like you
Chicago - Hard to say I'm sorry
Meatloaf - Two out of three aint bad
Queen - 'Save Me', - 'Who wants to live forever' & 'Las palabras de Amor'
Pat Benatar - Fire and Ice (What a voice!!!)
Bob Seger - We've got tonight (The original - so-o-o-o much better than that Lulu & Ronan tripe)
Fleetwood Mac - Dreams (The original - way better than The Corrs)

Probs lots more later - when I've had a bit of a think.

Hi Everyone!
Just to let you know I have completed the first CD, but as there have been so many great suggestions I am going to make a second one at the weekend! Maybe even a third.
In case anyone's interested the first cd was as follows:
1- Aerosmith- I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing
2- Meatloaf- I Would Do Anything For Love
3- Wet Wet Wet- Love Is All Around.
4- Sinead O'Connor- Nothing Compares.
5- J Lennon- Imagine.
6- Bryan Adams- Everything I Do
7- M Jackson- Earth Song
8- U2- The One.
9- Beatles- Something.
10- Bon Jovi- Always.
11- Heart- Alone
12- Whitesnake- Is This Love?
13- Starship- Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now.
14- REM- Everybody Hurts
15- The Cars- Drive
For anyone who has noticed that there where a lot more good songs on the original list that weren't included in the final copy, it's not because I have dropped them they will be featuring on one of the other cds!

Agree that's it's one of the best 'power ballads', but maybe not song ever...

Reminds me of my teenage years, and always being left alone at the side of the dance floor when the 'slow songs' came on. Still, happily married now to a woman that has always been fully aware of the fact that I can't dance - managed to fake it at our wedding, though.

Wo-woah-wo!!! I was going to suggest the exact same song but you beat me to it.

That Tubes song you suggested, is that the one that goes: 'We could be the last two on Earth etc? If so, you made some fine suggestions.

Metallica - Nothing Else Matters.
Metallica - Mama Said.
Def Leppard - Love Bites.
Breed77 - The River.
SugarComa - Zero Star.
Stone Sour - Bother.
Seether - Fine Again.
Megadeth - A Tout Le Monde.

However, if you get yourself an iPod, you'll not need to worry about doing CDs, as you'll have everything with you anyway

All a HDD music player does is change making CDs into making playlists

Duran Duran - Ordinary World. I heard this song for the first time a while ago (this version), I thought it was just a dance track by Aurora.
