The best advice I had is don't give in, keep trying, they will get used to it. Try holding the flap open so they get used to going in and out. We found the problem was our cat didn't like pushing the flap open with her face, she kept trying to use her paw!!!
When they cry at the door, carry them to the flap, and sit with them, encourage them to use it. It does take a few days, but its worth it in the end, but keep it up, and once they are used to the cat flap, don't go back to opening doors!!! Good Luck”
Hi, many thanks for your replies, I've put a small wooden box outside so it's easier to reach the cat flap and they're now happy to go in and out when it's propped open, the problem is they don't like pushing it open themselves so I'm going to try all your suggestions today .... I think you're right
missyalicia I'm sure they
can do it but they're lazy, why should they do it themselves when they have an owner to do it for them .... but not for much longer
