Hi,

I’ve got a simple dish+receiver (watching channels on Hotbird 13E) and want to change the basic box to the PVR one to record the programs. Can you recommend any cheap PVR box ( I don't need to watch and record at the same time) ?
Can I just replace the boxes by myself (moving the satellite dish cable from old to the new one) or I will need somebody to install it/change settings?
Thanks

Look at the receiver listings in the 'What Satellite' magazine.

You should be able to change a receiver yourself. Just unscrew the cable from the existing receiver and connect it to the new one. It is best to do this with the receivers powered off.

Thanks. I’m not sure what I’m looking for.
What is it called? PVR for FreeSat?
Is Hotbird 13 E a freesat?

Freesat is just a epg for some of the free channels at 28.2/28.5E. Some like the Foxsat-hdr can be switched into a non-freesat mode and can be used to record from other satellites like 19E. You don't get timer recordings or an epg when used this way (just now and next prog info) so you have to start recordings manually.
