Advent Vega reliability question
advb69
08-11-2011
Has anyone had (or heard about) any Vegas failing during the warranty period?

The refurbs on the Dixon's site are £170 with 12 months warranty but the refurbs via their Ebay outlet with 3 months warranty were only £130 (when they last had then in stock a couple of days ago).

I like the safety net of a 12 months warranty but, if they are generally fairly reliable, I think I'll hang on and hope the Ebay outlet sells some more soon.

Any comments or thoughts?

Thanks.

I don't think the Vega is any better or worse than any other tablet out there for reliability.

Mine has been running fine now for maybe 5 months, no issues at all. Better built than I expected, some minor hardware niggles (screen sensitivity when charging being the primary problem), but put on a custom firmware and its a fun little toy.

Surprised at the price though - £200 when new, and the refurbs have only been dropped by £30?

Yep - and the price for new ones is currently £230!

Well, going by the reviews of some of the cheaper clones from Chinese sellers, the QC on these can be lacking with tablets being DOA or failing shortly after. I wouldn't expect than from a named brand but though it was worth asking anyway

I've not heard of that. What's the problem? Is it oversensitive or undersensitive whan charging?

Thanks.

Until I sat on mine and broke it, I'd been running my Vega overclocked for a few months and had no problems at all, bar needing a hard reset now and then.

They really are good value for money.

The only problem I've had with my Vega is when I tried to over clock it once and the battery heated up so the screen wouldn't work because of the heat.

But I put it back to normal and everything was OK again.

I would prefer better viewing angles though.

Not had any problems with any of the FT3 I have supplied.

According to the forums, the screen is over-sensitive when charging. I haven't noticed that issue myself.
