I can say for myself that I do not that! Its fine if you like it, if not not then ewwww, each to their own lo
Agreed. I can imagine it would be pleasurable to be the recipient, as the anus has more sensitive nerve endings than the penis! I often think this is natures way of rewarding you for keeping it clean and paying attention to the area.

But, I couldn't do it to someone else, besides there are various health risks from parasites etc.

I wonder if cats do it simply because they can

I don't think one cat is hygienic in a house, nevermind ten!
Well I think you're an idiot since cats are the cleanest pets you can have.

Most cats keep themselves clean by licking themselves and are very fastidious about this.

However, as humans we must still maintain good hygiene to prevent cross contamination between the two species..

Why do you think cats are unhygienic? Don't gay people often mess around with other men's bottoms?

I assume they shower and brush their teeth too?
Just because I think cats are unhygienic doesn't mean I think all humans are hygienic either. Not being homophobic or anything.

I think cats are unhygienic for a lot of reasons, if they are outdoor cats then they bring in germs and pests, indoor cats still have a lot of fur with dust mites and other things. Indoor cats usually poo in a tray in people's kitchens or somewhere.

The licking thing is disgusting to me, since once they lick their ass they lick the rest of themselves. Then you stroke them and might as well be touching it's ass covered in spit.

before toilet paper the romans used sponges and cloth.
S'pose it depends whether I could reach the towels.

True!!! I know of a lady who was once sat in her kitchen with the door open, as it was a nice day. A black cat just walked in and proceeded to have kittens on her kitchen floor, obviously she was gobsmacked! The cat simply looked at her as if to say "and?" "your problem is?" It has lived there ever since!
What a clever cat.

The person I refer to in the first quote above took the cat with her when she moved to a very smart area. So the cat - which started of as a stray - ended up living with her in luxury accommodation (a large house with with big gardens).

That's why it's important to wash ones hands after handling the cat (or any animal for that matter), particularly before going on to handle food.

You don't know what the cat has touched though do you?
I don't think that woman in CDWM would make a difference if she washed her hands, the cats were everywhere!

True, an outdoor cat could have just killed a flea bitten mouse.

Cats are clean and very particular when compared to the animal world, but not when compared to normal human standards.

Do you have the same feelings about all other animals or is it just cats? Just curious really

I don't think people who have rats running all around their house are that hygienic either...

lol j/k no, which animals do you mean?
as a rule I don't like the idea of animals free range in houses other than small ones in cages.

Well it sounds to me you are not really a fan of pets. Which is fair enough each to their own and all that

Can I ask why you are bothering venturing into the pet forum where posters, like myself, are besotted with their cats

I have no interest in some sections of Digital Spy (eg all the technology forums) so I don't bother visiting those areas and would certainly not put forward any opinions.

I agree that everyone is entitled to express their own opinion but I find it a bit odd that you are spending time posting on a forum where the vast majority of posters are pet (and particularly cat) lovers.

Hygiene and cleanliness are laudable, I like to keep a clean tidy house myself despite having 3 cats, but we all need some exposure to germs in order to develop our immunity to them. I don't think it's healthy to have an obsession with cleanliness and sterility outside of the healthcare environment (where we don't want to subject vulnerable immuno compromised patients to infection). Children who are exposed to a bit of dirt tend to develop better immune systems. Myself and my brothers were brought up in a farmhouse with plenty of animals around and none of us have ever been in hospital (as patients). My father is in his 70s and has never been in hospital either.

Pets enhance humans' mental health and the main physical health problems associated with cats are allergy related (I know pregnant women need to be careful to not handle cat faeces because of the small risk of toxoplasmosis).

In my opinion, the health benefits of cat ownership far outweigh any potential health risks.

Because I watched Come Dine With Me and I had an opinion on the subject?
That's rather rude... no need to be so passive aggressive.

I don't think I was rude? Just genuinely puzzled why you are here. This is a pet forum, after all, made up of animal lovers. I note you selected only a certain section of my post to quote

But I think North Downs is right so I'll stop the feeding.
