lol j/k no, which animals do you mean?
as a rule I don't like the idea of animals free range in houses other than small ones in cages.”
Can I ask why you are bothering venturing into the pet forum where posters, like myself, are besotted with their cats
I have no interest in some sections of Digital Spy (eg all the technology forums) so I don't bother visiting those areas and would certainly not put forward any opinions.
I agree that everyone is entitled to express their own opinion but I find it a bit odd that you are spending time posting on a forum where the vast majority of posters are pet (and particularly cat) lovers.
Hygiene and cleanliness are laudable, I like to keep a clean tidy house myself despite having 3 cats, but we all need
some exposure to germs in order to develop our immunity to them. I don't think it's healthy to have an obsession with cleanliness and sterility outside of the healthcare environment (where we don't want to subject vulnerable immuno compromised patients to infection). Children who are exposed to a bit of dirt tend to develop better immune systems. Myself and my brothers were brought up in a farmhouse with plenty of animals around and none of us have ever been in hospital (as patients). My father is in his 70s and has never been in hospital either.
Pets enhance humans' mental health and the
main physical health problems associated with cats are allergy related (I know pregnant women need to be careful to not handle cat faeces because of the small risk of toxoplasmosis).
In my opinion, the health benefits of cat ownership far outweigh any potential health risks.
