Anyone think that Frankie just had enough and quit?

He did a half hearted performance on Saturday, thought he was going. He got booed by the audience and slammed by the judges. He openly admitted he was in it for the sh@gs - he's got the fame, so he doesn't need to cop the crap any more.

X Factor are struggling ratings wise - publicity/scandal wise this was a perfect escape route for Frankie and them.

I don't buy that he's broken a golden rule - other contestants in previous series have broken rules and nothing's happened. This big scandal is another ploy to recapture some viewers.

I agree, in all honesty I don't think he was pushed he knew he could'nt cut the mustard and thought better to leave rather than ruin his street cred any further.

Im pretty sure he walked to be honest, it was rumoured many a time last week that he wanted to quit, and his reaction on twitter saying "i'd hate me too" made me pretty certain he wouldn't make it through this week.

Hard to say.If he wanted to jump, surely he'd have come up with something that wouldn't have reflected so badly on him.

I agree with you, and to be honest with you the show did not need this type of publicity, M&S are fuming not exactly what the producers would have wanted, as sure as shite I don't see any other credible store ever linking with the X factor again after this.

I know he was upset Saturday he was in tears from where I sat watching, he looked gutted but I do not think he chose to walk, I think he was pushed to walk.. the sad bit is that they the show producers and Gary allowed it to go as far as it did, no one out there knows what this type of thing can do to anyone whatever age, and 19 and a lad can be tough to be ridiculed in the press and live on TV.

If he had walked I think the show would have said that, and not even commented on drugs, as I say M&S are not happy bunnies, drugs linked to their advert is hardly what they anticipated. The allowed the other lad in the Risk to walk although I do not think they mentioned it was to do with his religion..

I don't think he'd've got the chance - the producers are hush hush about what goes on backstage. They like speculation - knowing what happens doesn't make it as exciting.

Usually these forums die down a lot Tues - Thursday. Big bit of news, people talk. Next bit of news about what to do = more gossip.

Frankie had nothing to lose from this - he knows the public don't like him - booing on the live shows really did kick him (you could see it in his body language - his face said he wasn't good enough, but the booing got him more.) His image already is rock bottom, he can get magazine deals to explain himself/'his' side of the story, make a quick buck doing that.

Why with the accusation of breaking a golden rule then? Nothing like that happened when the guy n the Risk decided to quit. They just said he'd had enough and wanted to quit.

I'm suspicious about that one too - there were a few too many tears for it to have been his decision to walk away. I suspect he was booted because the new guy was slightly more popular (with a premiership footballer brother to match...)

I think it's my age, but X Factor is not a talent show - it's an entertainment show, that's struggling to find it's feet after a lot of changes. It needs headlines and publicity to get people talking about it.

Thing is with this one is that there have been statements from Frankie apologising for breaking the rule, Gary Barlow has released a statement confirming Frankie has apologised to him for breaking the rule, and that he's disappointed in him...I can't imagine X Factor wanting negative publicity in this way, when they would still have gotten the column inches, without the negative connertations, had they let him walk.

you get few real opportunities in life and frankie pissed his chance up against the wall. one of my mates was always 'the lad / loverable rogue' type - ah whats he done this week etc. it was amusing until we got to late 20's then it became tedious. by the time he woke up to smell the coffee it was too late

Earlier on today i was convinced he had walked but not sure now. Whatever, I do feel sorry for him, feel he was put through for publicity while it suited the show, lets put him on as the good looking cheeky chappy etc, but now its clear he really isnt a good singer and he is getting bad publicity, they may have got rid of him to bow to popular opinion.
I really felt sorry for him this week, no he isnt a great singer, but he has been hyped sky high by the show and then when he isnt of any use to them he is bumped out. He was always honest about why he wanted to be there, he wasnt pretending to be something he wasnt. And I think a lot of his bravado was just a young boy trying to act big.
If he had broken some 'golden rule' you think the show would say why to justify throwing him out as they are now having to refund people who voted for him.

Are they actually refunding the votes? I've not heard that.

I'm still not convinced that he's been booted - they've not revealed what rule he broke. It's pure speculation that it was drugs.

Im sure I read they were refunding the money for his votes - not sure where though and I could well be wrong. Or maybe it was votes at the bookies?

He should have been allowed to get voted out. The winner of this years show won't be the legitimate winner of X Factor 2011 because Frankie never got voted off by the public.

In reply He should not even been among the finalists but he was and he broke the contact.
In all works of life if you break your work contact you get warnings then you get the sack

The bookies are refunding as people bet on him to win which he obviously can't do now.

In the T&Cs for xfactor it says that producers may make the decision to ask a contestant to leave and therefore there is no obligation to refund phone votes as everyone who votes should make themselves fully aware of the rules before committing to spending money.

But this is a TV show and not really a job. No one would have noticed if the producers had covered any allegedly drug taking up.

What are you lot like yes he was removed from the show allegedly for taking coke that's a very serious accusation and if not true Frankie could sue and XF would be finished...do you realy believe they would take that much trouble and risk for a little oik like him.

Frankie will have been pushed and quite right too, you cannot have his sort of behaviour continuing on a family show.

And good riddance too.

Drugs are wrong as is drinking far to much he should of said ''I take drugs but I am going to give up and I will not drink so much
This is a new start of the rd for me and I will be clean living.'' thats what he should of said and meant it.
Now that will gain respect of viewers and people behind the scenes give him the help but he never did all he did was drunk to much and behaved badly.
Young people watch X Factor and what sort of role model is Frankie-one of the bad ones.
Of cause he have his good points he may be the lad that offers his bus seat train seat to older generation .

I thought that he might get pushed this week for something but I'm pretty sure that the PR machine would not have made this up and got him to agree to it, because for a start what they're accusing him of is illegal. Which could imply a police investigation, criminal charges etc, not to mention the effect it may have on any future employment prospects in any field.

But if it had been a different 'golden rule' he had broken, I would definitely be thinking something fishy.

Yes but they could have done that behind doors and kept him in the show.

Tell that to all the people who work on TV shows!

A responsible employer does not allow illegal activity to occur on its time. ITV would have been taken to the cleaners if it came out the covered up illegal drug-taking.

No-one would have noticed? You're worse than Mr Blonde!
