Does anyone celebrate their pets birthday? Our little dog was 2 years old today so we got her a card and a couple of small treats. When I mentioned this to my mate at work he took the p*** !!

I usually give them a special treat but as I don't know their actually birth date I just got by the day in the month I got them.
My two girls I got this year on 24th of August one is 2 years old and the other just a year so that will be their date.

I do know quite a few folk on a cat forum who celebrate their cats birthday with a card and a cat food cake. At christmas I make a cat treat goody bag and put it under the tree ( I started that for my 20 year old cat who passed away this year and her sister who passed away in 2010) so I will carry this on this christmas too, I don't buy the pet stockings you see in the supermarkets etc., as they usually have stuff my lot would not look at.

They always used to on Blue Peter I celebrated Woody's this year as it was his first birthday. I didn't get him a card but he got a treat (tuna). I know a lot of people get their pets advent calendars and treat stockings for xmas. I haven't done anything at xmas before, but I might get Dreamies advent calendars for my cats this year.

My sister's cat always gets me a xmas pressie (clever thing )

When I was a child I always sent my cats a postcard from holiday, the postman must have thought I was mad.

don;t celebrate them, but we do keep track of them, i.e. our miss would have been 15 on boxing day, jake will be 5 at new years-ish

they got/get gifts at christmas, and their dinner is usually a miniature version of our dinner

it's actually going to be the first christmas without missey... that's going to be different, she loved seeing what was in everyones presents, as well as her own!

Yes, my pets get presents and cards too. On their birthdays, christmas and the anniversary of the day I got them too. Haven't got much else to spend my money on at the moment, so why not?

Don't go to the lengths of getting cards, but he does usually get something tasty, and maybe a toy.

The date he was born was one of the final deciding factors in getting him.
My previous dog's birthday was 30th May, but he had to be PTS at a ripe old age about 5yrs ago.
Then the following spring a neighbour's dog was pregnant and I semi-jokingly said "If there's any male brindles in the litter, put me down for one"
He was the only male brindle in the litter, and they were born on the 30th May.

apart from the cat that was born on my dad's birthday, we don't know when the others were born so no we don't celebrate them.

My cat's birthday is 1st April, so we usually do get her a little treat if we remember

And she will have lots of treats and maybe a stocking at Christmas, but she isn't too fussy about toys though, and I'm sure she would rather have a leg of turkey than a silly ball with a bell in it

Cards? Good god no! She can't read! Waste of money.

We know our dog's birthday and always have a little treat for her! Last year we bought her a settee suite so she could lounge in comfort, luckily she doesn't mind sharing it with us!

I can't remember Amber's Birthday (it's either 26th or 29th of April ) If I went through my old diary I could find out.

She is a spoilt little moo as it is though every day is her blooming Birthday

aww how mean of them to take the mick!

I took in both my girls so I don't know exact dates but they were both roughly 10 weeks when I got them so counted back! One is the day before my Mum's bday and one the day before my sister's so quite poetic really

Woody (cat) is celebrating his 2nd birthday by going bonkers. My youngest cat (11 month old Archie) is teaching him how to be wild and crazy and act like a kitten again. The pair of them are tearing up the house right now, having great fun.

Yes, I always celebrate the birthdays of my pets. I buy them presents and make them a card. I even wrap the presents! When I was growing up we had a Yorkshire Terrier and he would actually tear the paper off his own presents, like I expect a lot of dogs probably do. But apart from that I've always had cats, and they just sort of watch while you take the paper off for them!

I always celebrate my dog's birthday. We even had a party once. Though that was for the benefit of my young nephew, who said we had to have one.

I don't send him a card but whenever I send a card to other people, I always sign his name on the card too.

That was sweet. She looks like she has as much fun opening the present as playing with it.

No. They have no concept of time or date and one day is much like another to them.

No reason for us humans to not celebrate it! And they love joining in with it all, even if they don't really understand the reason why.
