Having seen all the acts perform in the auditions and ‘knowing’ who’s through, I’m changing my mind! Two2Go are my favourites to win, closely followed by Rowetta, Steve and G-4.
If Sharon’s picks are as stated in the Daily Star, then I’m afraid she hasn’t got a chance. Tabby is not mainstream enough to get votes (he’s also very hit or miss – none of his auditions so far have particularly impressed me, but his charisma is undeniable). Meagan is no way near as good as she thinks and could fall into the trap of being too young to connect to a Saturday teatime audience. Roberta is just bland (very pretty of course) but I can’t see the X factor. Cassie and Andy are extremely unlucky, as Cassie had the best voice in that group of five and seems to be extremely versatile. Andy – although I cried the same as everyone else when he sang The Long and Winding Road, that was the only time where he delivered a good performance. The others were mediocre or, worse, completely out of tune.
Simon’s picks – Steve and Rowetta are going to be very popular. Steve is an ‘everyman’ and will be the housewives choice. Rowetta has made such an impact and her voice is in a different league to all the others. She’s already so memorable and I expect her to have a strong fanbase. Verity, I still don’t get. Her voice is pleasant but no way near the other 2 picks. Her back-story is oft repeated of sacrificing her career for her marriage, so we’re supposed to be sympathetic and vote for her because of that. But Rowetta is 38 and has 2 children in their 20’s (work it out). I imagine that her story – teen mother looking after small children and unable to fulfil her potential - is just as compelling and she has a great deal more talent to justify a vote for her.
Of all the groups, Louis’ is the only one with real strength in depth. Each of them has a very valid chance of winning, but Two2Go are the ones with the great story (I expect there’ll be a romantic angle before the finale!) and are good enough to win. They also have mass appeal and will get the votes.
