I often wake up to find Woody laying on top of me, and I don't want to move cos he is sound asleep and snoring.

OH stays up a little later than I do and Amber comes to bed with me without fail every single night. We have 10 minutes of grooming (her frantically licking and nudging my hands and me stroking her) then she settles as close to me as she can get....

One of my cats likes to fall asleep with her head on my arm, so if I haven't made sure I can reach the lamp to turn it off with the other hand, without moving too much, then I'm afraid the lamp stays on for as long as I can bear it.
I once spent a week sleeping on the living-room sofa because the same cat was confined under the coffee table (I chicken-wired it to make a cage for her) after an operation, as a kitten, and I didn't want her to be on her own at night, in pain and not understanding why she was stuck in a cage. My vet said I was mad. I was quite surprised at her attitude, actually!

That was really caring of you to do that, i'm surprised at the vets attitude too
Yep every night, my wee one likes to sprawl over my side of the bed and gets very huffy if I dare to move. By the way "clapped" means petted/stroked.

Yes! I've often used a cat as a pillow! During the day I tell one that she is a cushion with a head and we have a sleep on the sofa.
I remember as a child coming home from school on a freezing cold day. I went straight to the living room to lay in front of the fire, only to find the dog there. I moved the dog further back and laid in it's former place to get warm.
The dog barked and growled until I moved and then laid back where it was.
It had worked out what I had done in it's mind and sought to remedy matters!!!!!
I was recently reading about when/why cats lick themselves clean.
Apparently, they do it last thing at night before going to sleep in order to remove any remnants of food/scent so that it won't attract predators before they go to sleep when they are vulnerable.”

It's not really a garage, inside it's half utility room and half sheltered storage. I store wine, dog food, water etc in it. It's a great place for all those bloomin' wheelie bins too
Wouldn't say I have ever had an uncomfortable night because my two usually go and sleep on the couch and on top of the filing cabinets in my (home) office. If I've pulled an all nighter at work and I get into bed before the wife leaves for work, I can guarantee that within 10 minutes Sphynx will have come in, got on the bed and curled up either snuggled into my legs or between them. If I as much as move she'll walk up the bed and glare at me until I acknowledge the glare before going back to where she was. The problem is the glare actually conveys "You dared to disturb me?" and actually makes me feel guilty!
Her latest trick is to actually get under the covers now it's getting colder. If I move and disturb her because I haven't realised she's there, she'll lay on her side with her paws towards me and do a B-I-G stretch. B-I-G stretch = claws out = me yelping as I get spiked.

If I need to use the bathroom in the night, I am creeping around in the pitch black incase I disturb any of my six budgies, if my husband wakes up we have to talk in whispers so as not to wake any of them.
My cat wakes up and ensures I'm awake for between 1 and 2 hours every night. I'm not happy about it, but I'm not complaining either as I've never slept "normally".
Most nights are uncomfortable at our house. we have a boxer and although he starts the night on his own bed on the floor he waits until he is sure we are asleep and then climbs on the bottom of the bed so me and my husband have to sleep around him.
He is sneaky though as one night i turned out the lamp and settled down but I was reading the forum on my phone and I saw his head appear at the bottom of the bed, when I looked up he bobbed back down again, waited a few more minutes and walked to my side to see if I had gone to sleep.
Between the dog and a three year old that keeps sneaking into our bed most nights as well, I can't remember when I last had a good nights sleep.

Those confined days were the worst of all my days with my cats, and hers, too, I'm sure. She was only six months old, poor little plumpkin.
All better now, and both of them ganged up to get me up at 7.30 this morning. That was a whole 4 and a half hours' sleep I had last night, then. GRRRR!
