Foxsat HDR can't upgrade via USB
I have spent all morning until now, and on previous occasions too, trying to upgrade the piece of rubbish. It has loader version 7.52 and I have downloaded the latest loader onto USB, renamed to FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade.hdf and stuck it into the Foxsat, held the standby button for as long as my finger can stand it.
Have tried a 2gb sony usb stick, a smaller Philips one of about 256mb and another small one about 512 I think. Have formatted each using fat, fat32 and ntfs. Have also tried doing this on my Mac. It simply will not start the upgrade process. All it does, is turn on...say "boot" on the lcd, and then it looks as though it's turning on but will click off by itself again back into standby, by which point I start swearing at it. Can you please help? Thanks |

Is ypur PC set to suppress file name extensions. If so ypu may have a double extension .hdf.hdf
Unless you are a diseqc or usals user then updating the loader won't add anything. |

I had a lot of difficulty with an old Kingston DataTraveler which would not work with a number of linux based boxes, no matter what I did to the stick with Windows 7.
Recently I solved this problem by using Linux GParted to format the stick. GParted assigned a new mbr (IIRC) which solved the problem. |

Thanks guys =)
I did it in the end... evil thing =) Another USB stick, some old thing that came free with something. Anyway, formatted it with my Mac (with PC it didn't work whatever I did) and voila. Works. And I see...no improvements at all anyway =) I was hoping it might be a bit less sluggish or that they made some streamlining in the menus. |

Hi guys, I'd just like to add my experiences. I also decided to upgrade my FOXSAT HDR and had the same issues as "Mandarintje". I downloaded the file (Windows 7 pc) and changed its name to "FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade.hdf", then I checked the Properties of the downloaded file and there was a message saying "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer." I clicked on "Unblock", then "Apply" and then "Ok". I also changed the file to "Read only". I tried two old different USB sticks with no success. Then I tried a new 16gb stick and it worked fine. I also updated the loader to U 7.54 using the same method. First time I've tried this, glad it worked!
