Sales so far.. (INFO FROM BUZZJACKS FORUM)

Subo is No 1 (31k),
Florence No 2 (30k),
Cher Lloyd No3 (26.8k),
the wanted No4 (25.6k)

So looks like cher will sell about 50k plus come sunday, Diana Vickers who also came 4th sold 35k for #1 last year! So she looks set to beat her first week sales!

Sales seem to be quite low given that they are all new albums. I suppose Matt actually did pretty damn well to get 75k. Although Cher's singles have been out performing his

Is that if the other artists above her sell absolutely nothing else?

Subo's sales are going DOWN, DOWN, DOWN Thank God.

Cher Lloyds album, guaranteed, has been illegally downloaded all over the country. I can't see Susan Boyle fans doing the same.

Sorry if I sound stereotypical, I love Cher and her album! and also think Susan Boyle has a fantastic voice

She's been subject to "cherry picking" more than the others as well unfortunately.

Who says it's gonna be 50k by the weekend? Going by her single sells she always peaks on monday/tuesday and then sells go down, I doubt she adds another 25k to this.
This really is embarrassing given that HMV sells the album half price and Amazon even for 4£.
Good on Matt for selling so much more than her with a full price album.

I feel sorry for Cher, those sales are awful

But I do laugh at the people who repeatedly stated how she would beat Matt Cardle's sales the week his album came out

Wrong.

You haev to think about it thought. I dont think many people said she would beat him first week, i can see her selling more by the end of the year though. She has loads of singles from that album available and will boost album sales when she releases them!

So ye

Yeah Matt is not gonna stop releasing singles either.
Plus his second single already has much more positive feedback than the first.
He's not done yet.
So ye.

I have no doubt he will release singles but when you talk to people you dont hear

" OMG HAVE U HEARD MATTS NEW SONG"

I hear

" OMG CHERS NEW SONG IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN SWAGGER JAGGER AND I LOVE IT"

and

"OMG ONE DIRECTIONS KNEW SONG...AHHH"

I hae no doubt matt will release singles, his first went no.6 and personally, i think his new one is worse.

But i have already posted in the matt appreciation thread because i thought he wouldnt of done as well as he did.

I still feel he will be dropped before cher and 1D
So ye

how can you expect people to take your posts seriously?

you say you think Matt's new single is worse than his first ... you do realise that his new single's "Starlight" ... the song you've just posted in the Matt appreciation thread saying that you "LOOVE" it

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...6&postcount=78

make your mind up ..... or are you just trolling in the Matt appreciation thread ?

For the record, I'm not a Cher fan but I hope she makes a success of her music career and it seems that no matter how good or bad her album may sell, she's going to have succerss with her singles ... which is good for her and her fans

Both Cher and Matt are struggling and neither is setting the charts alight. Syco clearly see more potential in OneDirection.

Martyn Mac! You told the MCAT that you love Starlight! And funnily enough not that many people I know ask me if I've heard 1Ds latest. Or indeed Cher's.

But why compare sales for 2 different genres anyway? And lets face it in the short term, 1D could release an album of showtune covers and it'd outsell everyone else. In fact they could produce 12 identical tracks of Harry humming the theme tune for Coronation Street and it'd rocket to No 1 But its horses for courses.

Why anyway assume any of the 3 (4 including Rebecca) are going to be dropped? Are we all anticipating an influx of 3 or 4 new signed acts with star quality & big followings from this year, they'll have to make way for?

it could be 100k for all we know

your post is pure conjecture. Her singles have always had a whole Sunday to be taken into account. The album was released Monday morning. Also the sales of individual songs tell a story obviously her detractors will gloss over, but a sale is a sale.

I hate getting into this comparison shit tbh but this damn place forces it on you

200k for swagger jagger which is far from done yet (currently at 44), the second single holding firm for consecutive weeks, likely to easily overtake the first's sales. And an album nearly 30k after 2 and half days.

If thats a flop then its only in the face of unrealistic projections from serial xf watchers who should know better by now.

Alternatively she roughly 15% behind.

Oh dear, pretty bad sales. I'm not a fan but its a shame for her, thought she'd have done better.

this is getting very very old

by the standards of the current CD market, both Cher and Matt are doing well; nothing amazing but well.

Matt will sell more albums than singles; Cher probably the other way around due to the demographic differences in their fanbases.

They totally different artists whose only thing in common is they were on the XF the same year - let it go FFS!!

Unless the revenue for either totally drop off a cliff, which looks unlikely given Matt's virtual sell out tour and 4th week in the top 20 albums, and Cher's excellent single and promising album sales, they are both going to be around to make another album and surely if you are a fan of either artist, that is what matters.

If you're really just interested in scoring stupid points based on your own twisted perception of reality then feel free to carry on - I'll just go away and leave you to it.

I think it'll be

Flo #1
SuBo #2
Cher #3

all with close sales.

You describe it perfectly. Cher and OD are all hype and talk.
Matt actually sells. What do you think is more important for producers?

I tend to agree. Despite the fact that Cher Lloyd sold 74,000 singles last week, it was only 7,000 above the sales 1st week for Swagger Jagger which was released at a time of year when record sales are traditionally low, and it underperformed against singles that had already been out for a couple of weeks anyway.

I dont think Matt Cardle is anything special, and Cher Lloyd is indistinct in a music genre where there are many artists that do the same as her and where many artists are better than her.
