No it's really not. Dropping one place is not in any world pretty poor.

Cowell is all about chart positions though, if you aren't consistently hitting that number 1 spot, he loses interest very quickly.. i'd be expecting Cher to get to at least number 2. in her first week.. especially given that the songs above her have been in the charts already for a number of weeks,

I suspect the wanted will leapfrog her.

Maybe some people put their pennies into buying her album instead, since that came out very soon after? I wouldn't buy the single if the album was imminent.

Got to admit I like her new single, it's much better than the old one.

1D have the fastest selling single of the year so far, selling over 153k in the first week. No doubt their album will sell incredibly well, so I'm guessing the producers are really really happy with them?

it is within it's first week.. if a single drops a position the following week after it's chart entry, it usually enters freefall from there on out.. don't be surprised if it falls out of the top ten in the next couple of weeks..
i can only speak from experience i've had singles in the charts, and i still work in the industry.. it's not good..

It's actually common enough for singles nowadays to debut at their highest chart position, this is because pre-orders are now a pretty big factor.

on a serios note, i just don't get the fascination with 1D.. admittedly i'm not a 9 year old girl, so i'm not exactly their target audience.. but i just don't think they're very good.. (they scraped through the x factor finals by being drowned out by backing vocals every week) or good looking?? i can appreciate a good looking bloke.. i got the whole westlife thing, i could understand why girls went crazy for JT, Enrique, Take That, etc etc... but to me, 1D are all a bit on the weird side??
