Quite happy about the twist

It seems quite unfair BUT there is definitely something missing. I know it will probably be Amelia who returns and I think we could trust her to give us a great performance each week.

Amelia or James? I don't really mind which one gets voted in

Finally, someone with a positive outlook on the twist like me.

I love it. A chance to reinstate one of my favourite singers in the competition (I'm assuming it's gotta be Amelia.) I love this twist. Since when has X Factor ever been about fairness anyway?

People complaining about the series being crap, well, there's a chance the favourite from the start could return who delivered apart from when she was given the worst song choice ever!!!!

Maybe it's because I haven't been too attached to the show this year but I think the lack of overall talent is disappointing so I like this twist.

I like the twist to an extent especially if Amelia comes back.

The problem I see, what about when the returned act gets in the bottom 2? Are the judges going to be biased towards to the other act and favour them because they've been in the competition for weeks competing or will they judge it solely on the quality of performances?

I just see a lot of very worried people. Given the standard of talent this year, they know that Amelia could walk this.

It wouldn't surprise me that by Saturday she is the bookies favourite to win.

And if it's not Amelia who returns, will you all still like this twist??

Exactly what if James gets back in will you still be in favour of this twist?

Yeah. At the end of the day, they needed something to happen to replace Frankie, and this in my opinion was the best solution. If the public choose someone else, so be it.

I can tolerate James and 2 Shoes anyway. I think they're talented artists who deserved their place. Jonjo just won't get back in whatsoever.

Think about it this way - any of these 4 will be better than Frankie

That said, Amelia was my favourite from this year and I was pissed off when she was booted before the public even got a chance to vote, so I will be happy if she's back in

This 'twist' completely cocks up the whole show. It would just be better to leave it as is and either have a week when nobody leaves but there's a free vote and we're told who comes bottom or something like that, or just finish the miserable series a week early. They can use the empty slot to do a preview of the tour or show clips or just lots of adverts.

Exactly how I feel, only person I look forward to seeing each week is Kitty, the rest I want to see them all eliminated and be told none of them are good enough for a recording contract, because they aren't.

Hopefully Amelia will return and walk the competition.

She's the most likely popstar of the lot that's left.

Never in a million years is it going to finish early, the other suggestions would just make a bad series even worse.

"Lets take all sense of excitement out and you have to put up with everyone for two weeks now" is hardly going to appeal.

NEVER gonna give free votes on a weekend, it's a money making show, this will make them more money.

I get the feeling though they won't let Amelia win. The judges will likely give favour to Marcus, Janet, etc.. if Amelia faces them in the bottom 2.

Do the producers really want someone to win who was placed into the show at week 5? It would damage the shows reputation, what one it has anyway.

1. The first person that Amelia would knock out of the competition would be Kitty.

2. I don't care which of them comes back or how far they get. It has made a nonsense of all the money that people have spent on voting. If they can just bring back anyone they like why not bring back Jade while they're at it?

Yeah, but that's not going to happen. She was very popular after her audition of Piece of my Heart, compared to the other three, who I bet most people on here couldn't tell me, without looking it up, what James Michael, Jonjo Kerr and 2 Shoes sung at their auditions.

Well believe it or not I could not tell you what Amelia sang either at her audition, she did not rank that high with me back then. She can sing but she is not brilliant... and I do not think she will win this show even if she does come back, and that is not definite yet, people have to vote....... there are 3 other contenders and one appears to be liked as well it is not all about Amelia, people here just seem to take it that it is.

It should have been a straight swap anyway, Frankie should have been replaced by James or Johnny should have been brought back but then who knows Johnny may have said no thanks already..

I have nothing against Amelia, she is very talented but if she comes back half way through and then wins there will be an almighty row and I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing is declared null and void. It will certainly kill off the X-Factor for good. Probably just as well, it's so badly wounded now I think it needs to be put out of its misery.

All the ridiculous twists and controversies of this year make last year look amazing in comparison. That said, I'd be very surprised if any one other than Amelia got voted back, and, I can see her walking it. She just needs to give one amazing performance and everyone will be praising this new twist for rectifying the problem caused by the twist in week one. Everyone will be yelling "How could Kelly have let her go?!" Or something like that.

At the end of the day, it's just a TV show, and the contestants have been a little... underwhelming this year. If this twist brings back someone with a bit of spark and charisma, who is entertaining to watch, then I'm all for it.

Looking back at what we had seen of Frankie by week 1, I don't think many people would have put 2Shoes or Jonjo ahead of him. Though I like 2 shoes, I think Frankie was more popular at that stage.
Thing is if Frankie had remained and he was in the bottom against any other act next week, I'd say he would have gone home. Chances are whoever votes a contestant in on Saturday, will vote for them to stay on Sunday. Many people have said that this year they don't have a favourite or that's it's hard to call a winner, so I think that will give the new contestant ( esp. if it's Amelia) an advantage. I think if it's Amelia, she would be safe this week and an act who has performed out of their comfort zone for weeks will get the bullet. Really doesn't seem fair. I can see Misha being in the bottom 2 if Amelia returns.

The title of the show is X Factor, and the premise is that they are looking for people who can sing and have a certain spark about them. Booting out one of the very few contestants that actually had both attributes week 1 without a vote in favour of the dull Janet who a) is vocally weak, b) has less charisma than Leona and c) has proved herself far from versatile was a big, big mistake.

Hopefully this weekend will see Amelia go forward and Janet go out. She should not have made it past JH IMHO.

I'm with you OP. I was thrilled when I read this this morning because I was on the verge of giving up this series. (and I miss my Saturday night fix!) With the exception of Marcus last week, I haven't once sat up and thought - wow that's better, let alone good. For whatever reason I'd say XF is in deep trouble and a bloody good shake up will breathe new life into this tired old format. Sure it's a gamble, but with a last chance, Amelia and James or whoever is chosen, will come back hungry and it might make the others more competitive - so the standard of singing might actually rise! (I'm seeing pigs flying, but pleeease let it be so).
