The Sophie Webster/ Brooke Vincent Appreciation Thread
Multimedia81
10-11-2011
Amidst everyone's views on the Sophie and Sian (and Amber) storyline I think we have lost sight of Sophie or Brooke Vincent as an individual. So this is the place to comment on her without her sidekicks!

Sophie was remarkably sensitive in being concerned for Jack's wellbeing regardless of how he came to be. She wanted Kevin to feel forgiven and welcome at home at least for Christmas.

Sophie was misguided to transfer money from Kevin's account to help the Homeless shelter but her heart was in the right place.

Sophie stood up for herself when Sally made herself out to have done so much for her birthday last week.

Brooke herself looked her best so far at the Mobo Awards in Glasgow recently.

In short, both Sophie the character and Brooke Vincent have gone up in my estimation within the last year!

Can we only say nice things about Brooke here. I just think of Tango whenever I see her outside of Corrie. She should stop with the fake tan, it is not a good look for her.

Sophie was sympathetic towards Chesney and everything that has happened what with Schmeichel and Fiz. As Sally was so hostile he underestimated Sophie's goodwill.

Sophie even helped Rosie reveal the truth and show how sanctimonious Sally was being. Rita then talked some sense into Sally.

It seems to me that many people on DS are only interested in Sophie for her relationships rather than her other virtues and sensitivities. Thank you Jagged_death for responding above.

I'm a fan of Sophie. She's one of my favourite soap characters. She has a good heart and I love the facial expressions she pulls. I love Brooke's accent too.

One of my all time faveSophie scenes is outside Hayle & Roy's wedding when confronted by Clair. You can see Sophie beating herself up inside for the pain caused to Clair by denying who SHE is.

LOL @Jagged_death, I have to say I tried the spray tan a couple of weeks ago and I ended up looking like Hellboy. So for me, never again.

Brooke alert is that she is on Loose Women next Tuesday (with Sasha Parkinson). I think there is also an episode of Corrie on Tuesday, postponed from 8.30 on Monday.

I'm looking forward to Sophie's

showdown with Amber. I love a good brawl.

Me too. Brooke's a good actress but I think she can be hit and miss. Sometimes she's very impressive (the church roof fall and events leading to it) or just over the top and cringe worthy (some of the scenes after Kevin found out about the scam.)

This old grump isn't looking for to it. Its boring to make the lesbian character the crazy nutcase obsessed with a straight girl. Plus it bound to wreck their friendship too.

I would have much rather that they went with making Sophie/Amber a couple. No wonder this old grump normally avoids tv shows with lesbians like the plague. I'm sure they exist just so they can lead me up the garden path then turn around annoy me. But I haven't watched one (apart from Corrie) in ages so they won't fool me again.

I think they'd make a great couple. However, I'm not completely sure that Amber is a straight girl. The DS article says so but she often looks at Sophie as though she is attracted to her. Perhaps Amber is bisexual and is not ready to accept it? If Amber is giving those looks to someone she feels no attraction to at all she is a really strange girl.

Well Amber is a strange girl and I think the storyline was changed mid-stream. The recent interview with Nikki and Brooke state that nothings going to happen with Amber/Sophie. I think Corrie has missed the boat on that count, probably due to the whinyer who said that corrie was too gay this summer.

That is a shame. They would have been an entertaining couple and I think it would have been good for the Websters and Alahans as well.

Brooke had leather boots on Loose Women yesterday. Her boots went so high that it almost looked as though she had leather trousers on!

I was really pleased that Sophie was on Corrie yesterday, as she had gone up in my estimation on the Friday before Christmas last year. There is a recent interview in which Brooke says she is delighted to have featured on Corrie every Christmas since joining the show.

I thought Brooke was brilliant last night and I will miss Sacha Parkinson playing Sian but I understand why she left.

I am pleased that Sophie appeared in the final episodes of Corrie last year and again this year. She looked quite dishy as she was being so firm to Amber in meaning her vows regardless of any past feeling for her.

As Sian falling out with Sophie and leaving is such a big and devastating change in Sophie's life, we will see a new strand to Brooke's acting over the coming weeks.

I'm not a Brooke hater like 90% of the board - I think she's decent most of the time. But it last night was awful for Brooke, really somebody should have told her to tone it down a bit. I don't mean that as a sarcastic comment, I mean the director should have been directing them better. As for Evil Amber, pity she's not apparently an bitchy, straight tease but I liked Sophie/Amber would have been a much better couple than Sophie/Sian. Thanks alot Corrie, good to know tv can still dissapoint me when it comes to lesbian plot and there was me thinking that was so '00s.

Yet another Christmas Day, another Christmas episode with Sophie. This was the start of the storyline of Sophie and Kevin both taking a shine to Jenna.

Ah, I do love Sophie. Miss her and Sian though.

This SL really won't do Brooke/Sophie justice, as Jenna is boring, and the actress is awful.

Indeed, Jenna always looks in the same semi-sullen mood no matter what is happening to her. Some soaps create mixed race relationships such as Karl and Sunita, or even Della and Binnie in EastEnders, just to be politically correct.

Yep, she's just incredibly boring with nothing to her really.

I want Sian back
