I totally agree but it will fall on deaf ears. People enjoy being morons.

I agree entirely, people talking about contestants as if they know them personally and being extremely vitriolic based on what they read in the papers.

All rather sad really.....

I suspect ITV/TXF team are the ones who are the main culprits for employing 'dirty tactics',

I wish people would stop using dirty tactics to get people to vote for so and so but we can't get what we all want I guess.

Don't take too much notice of what is said on this forum. Most viewers probably just watch the programme and vote for who sings best. I'm sure that most of them have very little clue about all the arguments that happen on forums and Twitter.

Whilst I agree with what the OP is trying to say, Devlinacious is right. In the scheme of things, the viewership (and voter base) for the X Factor is huge, and this DS community here is by comparison absolutely tiny. This community may have a few 'hardcore' fans, but the voters that matter are the millions of casual viewers, just due to their huge numbers.

So, in the end, opinions of any of us on here do not affect the price of fish at all, they are mostly just a bit of fun.

When I go out into the real World and talk to friends and work colleagues, it would appear that the vast majority of those friends and work colleagues (who do never frequent the DS Forums) do seem to think along the lines of the consensus of opinion here on DS.

I think the DS forums are a barometer for the country as a whole - that's why many in the media read the comments here...

i agree and wish they wouldnt do that though they may not be doing them selfs any favours in the long run so let them get on with it people who are fans of the acts that are being criticed will just vote even more rather than stop voting for them

I always used to think we weren't like America and didn't fall for such crap but I was wrong. The British Public is retarded and seem to believe anything it's fed.

If you ever watch Fox News & see the crap that is force fed to the U.S. public then you may reconsider what you have written. Compared to Americans, the British public is far less gullible and much more savvy. Many Americans actually still believe that their own president is not American, and that he is also a Muslim. Not that being a Muslim is in any way a bad thing by the way.

I genuinally find that surprising.

I have found, this year as with other years, the opinions on DS of almost everything is completely different to that I encounter in "real life". Oh, of course, one encounters all opinions everywhere, but the consensus here is very different to that I see everywhere else.

Perhaps you hang around with "DS-style" people?

Or perhaps I seem not to?

Not at all - in fact when I've brought up the subject of Digital Spy, the usual response is: "What's that?"!

The biggest problem for a programme is when the public consensus starts to agree with Digital Spy - because DS is a haven for criticism and negativity (yes I know I'm part of it, maybe I'm a haven for it to? ) so when that negativity starts to permeate the public it's on a slippery slope.

The thing is, comparison of the opinions of this community on this site (see the "Who is your favourite?" poll on this forum) with who has actually been in the bottom two from the acts now remaining, shows little correlation.

On this site, Misha is well thought of and Kitty is one of the most liked.

But with the viewers, Misha has been bottom two once, and Kitty bottom two twice (and is the favourite with the bookies to be next out).

According to DS, the bottom two this coming week will be Craig and Janet. But let's just say, I consider that somewhat unlikely.

I suspect the discrepancy between DS polls and the actual result is down to the "I voted for ****** 20 times" brigade. If voting was 10p or so and limited to one vote per phone number, then I think the actual show result would be much closer to the DS polls.

Agreed. But there always seems to be much more negativity to females then to males.

So you are suggesting that Craig and Janet have only multi-voters, but the others don't?

You any evidence for that?

Because I think without evidence, I would actually think the exact opposite, that those acts would have a large number of people voting once, and the small number of multi-voters tend to be the acts seen as cool by the young girls. Which isn't going to be Janet or Craig! Frankie maybe. Little Mix possibly. I don't know, I'm not really in tune with little girls.
