Great article - thanks for posting the link. Yes I also couldn't help noticing that Frankie was providing the show with much needed tabloid front pages. As no doubt the weekend reverse twist will do. It's beginning to look like a show in serious decline and I predict we will see quite a few more shocks/reversals before the run is over ...

Excellent article ... think they should think of giving the show a 'rest', and on any return ... no joke acts, people who can actually hold a tune might be an idea as well!

I think eight months is a long enough rest to be fair; especially if they revamp the panel. As long as the twist only causes a few flounces - or gains a few viewers - then it'll be forgotten about come next year.

The biggest problem with the twists this year is the base of the twists have been fine but they haven't taken them in the right direction.

Why does he call him " diminutive"
I don't know what height he is, but at least 4" higher than Gary

He's pretty tall really..

diminutive? yes, strange remark. As was calling Alexandra "Foghorn" Burke a shy angel. Yeah. Right.

I think he confused her with Leona. Actually the comments below are rather interesting

Did they take the Guardian default position and blame the coalition ?

I like this bit were he talks about 'pre-arranged categories' and then clearly makes up the categories based on the finalists.

Quote:
“The eventual competitors also carefully fit pre-arranged categories: Potential Payday (2010 finallists One Direction, 2008 finallists JLS), Working-Class Hero (2009 winner Joe McElderry), Shy Angel (2008 winner Alexandra Burke) and Bad-Ass: last year's finalist Cher Lloyd and, this year, Cocozza.”

Snigger. He obviously hasn't even been watching the show or he would have seen just how shy this angel is when she was a judge

I was just saying in another thread that Simon would be on the phone to Garry congratulating him on his inspired choice of Frankie who couldn't sing over other more talented contestants.

Its front page on The Sun which is exactly the sort of media exposure the show needs.

This. Enough with the gimmicks and novelty acts. It worked once with Jedward, but that's it, a one off. The likes of Katie Weasel and Frankie should never have been put through to the live shows.

As for the judges, I don't really care who's on the panel now Simon has gone. I think the changes need to happen backstage. Get rid of the producers who are responsible for this year's farce.

But it would be a talent competition

Meaningful, articulate and fair judging could also be an improvement if it was such a competition!

Whilst I agree that the aforementioned talentless idiots shouldn't have been put through the point is it provides great publicity for the show.

I would go so far as to say Frankie has the X Factor! He cant sing but he has the sex and drugs and rock and roll lifestyle. He fits the mould.

It's the 'viewer-deserted' bit that always flummoxes me. Ratings may be down a bit - and it is only a bit - but it's still by far the biggest show in telly in terms of profile and everything else.

Wishful thinking no doubt. Snobs like Lawson would love to ban all reality tv
