If YOU had a good voice... Would you audition??

IMO I have noticed the talent is down from previous years shows.
The contestants seem to fill an Archetype. If your lucky (Marcus/Rebecca/Leona) you can sail through without any bad press/damage to your character/reputation/future. Would you risk yourself to be scrutinised online/papers?
I'm Interested after watching the whole Xfactor journey to know if people would still audition to be a future contestant on the show?

Never in a million years. If I could not do it by merit, why bother putting yourself through all of this mallarky.

If I were to be disliked for any reason by the public, at least I would like to have got some money in the bank before they started. The Xfactor contestants get people disliking them instantly and no amount of vocal gymnastics seems to rescue them again.

No, because if I had a good voice I wouldn't make it to the 'lives'. At least not now. Perhaps in the early years of the show when talent did actually matter.

I do, yet I have no plans to. If I wanted to audition for a record company I'd just nip upstairs.

Yes, unless I happened to be Adolf Hitler. That guy would never get a fair shake around here - and rightly so may I add!

i have and i wouldnt too. because if it doesnt work out as it hasnt done for many, where do you go?? you'll look like a fool and your life will never be the same. i'd hate to go on it and lose whilst someone like frankie gets my slot. it's a tv show too, which adds to the lack of some one wanting to find talent.

There's no point in anyone with a good voice entering TXF unless they:

1) Claim to have been abducted by aliens
2) Look like the hunchback of Notre Dame
3) Have had the worst possible past
4) Have some deep, dark secret which they are prepared to admit to during the show

You get the idea...

Overall, it's really not a talent program about quality singers with that something extra; it's more of a circus act...

...how tedious and limited would life be if we didn't do stuff occasionally because it may make us look foolish ?

If I had a good voice I'd want to use it to create music that I could take pride in (and as a bonus, express myself with). I'd probably join a few bands/projects. Battle of the bands or genuine talent contests would be quite fun, and if I ran into success doing something I enjoyed without compromising my integrity, then fantastic.

The X Factor seems to be the place to go if you can't achieve success on your own. It's designed to serve the people that run the X Factor, not the contestants. It isn't a competition designed to be fair, or even fun, for the people competing, but to be entertainment for the people watching. The people on the show are almost fodder as long as people at home keep watching and the show keeps generating money.

While it could be an interesting experience, and I can laugh at myself, I dislike how the contestants are encouraged to trade on sob stories and are asked to verbally display how much they "want it" all the time. It strips the contestants of their dignity. They also have to sacrifice any control they would have had over their public image or creativity, by allowing the show to style them, edit them, comment on them and choose songs for them.

The only reason I'd audition for X Factor is if I was interested in fame at any cost, which I'm certainly not.

I do sing but theres no way I would audition for XFactor.

I think they take people with raw talent and turn them in to something else -make them sing really dodgy songs-and the
makeovers have been pretty bad this year too

I stopped watching this year when they did that revolting stunt at Boot Camp, but saw part of the live shows Saturday just gone. Do I take it stage choreographer Brian whatshisname went to the States with Cowell? The stagecraft going on behind the two acts I watched was abysmal compared to previous years. Even the lighting looked bad. Real Summertime Special level.

Craig Colton, Janet Devlin, Marcus Collins, The Risk, James Michael, 2 Shoes Sophie Habibis, Amelia Lilly, Sami Brookes, Jonjo Ker,Little Mix, and Nu Vibe (minus Bradley) all don't fit into your criteria, and they all made it past JH.

Anyway, to answer the question...if I had a great voice, I would audition. But I wouldn't expect it to change my life, and I'd kind of hope not to win. I wouldn't want to record an album, I'd just want the chance to sing on that big stage and meet celebrities. Would be more than happy going back to my day job when it was all over.

People's expectations for entering are a bit too much now...even for those that don't win. At this point in my life, I'd be happy to go in with zero expectations.

My 14 year old daughters a very good singer and there is no way I would allow her to go on this.

I keep telling her if she is serious about singing then think about musicals and similar. A hell of a better career in musicals in my opinion.

I would if the initial audition process wasn't so long because hey, you might get a free holiday out of it.
