Does Anyone Like Gary Barlow as a Judge/Mentor?

Meh, he's alright. Probably my second favourite on the panel behind Kelly. I don't really see people's big problem with him. And diss him as a mentor all you like but he guided 3 mediocre (in Frankie's case, worse than mediocre) males through until Tuesday, which isn't a bad effort. I'm sure the two he's left with now will go reasonably far as well.

I respect Gary for his songwriting and performances, however, he went right down in my book when he supported David Cameron in the general election. As a judge, what a f***ing waste of space. You can't say anything bad about his acts but he'll put other judges acts down like a severely wounded animal would be. This guy is a joke. If he's still here next year I'll be tuning out, especially if Louis goes.

I do like Gary as a judge but not as a mentor, especially his work with Frankie.

It is obvious that Gary has become uncomfortable with the show, probably the manouvering that goes on behind the scene and his scripted role.

I don't believe for one minute that he picked Frankie for example, and he seems very unhappy that a teenager has been used and spat out by the show in order to make headlines and keep teen watching.

He is under contract and cannot say what he wants, and certainly not turn round and give away the behind the scene secrets. Of course, he wansn't forced to sign, but I am under the impression that none of the judges realised what they were in for, and all of the are desillusionned.

So I am waiting for them to resign at the end of the season, and I'll have lost any respect for those who don't.

Its about Gary's over inflated ego. Gary thought he was to big to be pushed and shoved around by the X Factor, he has had a big wake up call. He had absolutely no need finacially to go on X Factor and is worth 10's of millions. This ego trip for him, has shown him up as weak and a plank you could not even reliably walk on.

There is no evidence that it is about his ego though. I think that he thought that mentoring young contestants would be fun and constructive, as well as of course enhancing his career (and there is nothing wrong with an artists wanting this).

He's so boring and dry. And so not suited to Saturday night telly. The 'I want to find a singing superstar' line is a load of pap. You're there for your ego, Gazza.

Of course I am what are you going by?
If he just plays an awful human being for the cameras than that still makes him an awful human being cause he sents out an image that being a dick is a good thing and people eat it right up.
Besides you juts need to look at his smug face to know he is beyond arrogant.
Frankie is his fault alone cause he put him through, knowing (and even saying) he is not a good singer and even admitting he had to lie to defend his performance and whatnot.
Gary can't complain that people react negatively when he presents them with an untalented ****.
What did he expect? The public takes absolutely no blame whatsoever in it and how dare he to suggest otherwise.

I think he has well fulfilled his remit to generate controversy and discussion.

He ain't a fool and knows exactly what he is there to do.

When he appeared on the X Factor I was indifferent to him, now I just cannot stand the lying ego. The Frankie fiasco has been appalling......talk about dumbing down the X Factor.

No to him coming back next year.

Sorry have to disagree. In his excuses for doing this he said awhile back that his kids didn't see him as anything special, but if he went on X Faxtor they could see him as a star. He doesn't need the money but he does have an ego that needs to be filled. He hasn't now enhanced his career . Should anyone employ him around children as his support for Frankie raises questions as a role model. Employ him to write a song now? Go to watch him on stage and take him seriously?

Not so sure on that. Anyway he reaps what he "spins" and that is seriously negative for him. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.

Now there's a thought...a panel with two Louis'. Would they argue I wonder?

He seriously needs to worry about his own mentoring rather than pick on Tulisa.

I get the impression that he is a good mentor but I don't think he is a particularly good judge - too much trying to fill Simon's shoes.

A bit rich talking about predictability after a typically dull performance from Craig.
