Still playing up on Corrie here

I had the series record set OK for tonight's 2nd episode at 20:30-21:00 but it actually recorded 20:00-20:30

I'm beginning to wonder if my box is starting to play up after yesterday's problems as well

I recall there have been reports of similar behaviour at summer time start and finish dates but I don't remember any previous reports at the year change.

I must admit I have not closely monitored all the soap recordings this week, attributing the failures to random events and just watched the alternatives I had recorded on another PVR.
The 19:30 episode of Coronation Street failed tonight. So far, like yourself, all the soaps are flagged correctly for next week. I'll try to remember to keep an eye on them throughout the week.

All my recordings have recorded correctly. I haven't actually missed any recordings because I've noticed the missing flags in the EPG before the event and re-scheduled.

Your report in post #24 is the first I've heard of a New Year problem, you must have read it on a forum I don't look at. I certainly don't recall having any previous New Year problems myself.

I'll have another look for it. It would almost certainly have been in DS or AV forums but could also be on a link from a post in these forums. It was posted as a "warning" to users to check their Series Record setting over the New Year period and as if I recall correctly was posted in the few days before the end of the year. I also believe it was from a trusted "name" I recognised a the time.

I was out of the country until just before the New Year so wasn't keeping an eye on DS and I don't look at AV forums so that's not narrowed it down at all for you.

Arrrggghhhh the first Corrie has failed to record again, but also so has Eastenders tonight
Is this a Humax only related problem? Has the HDR FoxT2 suffered the same issues?

Both recorded OK here (Chesterfield transmitter) on an HDR-FOX T2.

Mmmmm maybe it's time for an upgrade. 500gb or 1tb descisions descisions.

Our 9150 failed to record tonight's second Coronation Street.
It missed one on Friday too. That one was also missed by a friend's 9150.
We are both using the Oxford transmitter.

No failures on the evening soaps and other programmes tonight (Monday). All Series Record events correctly marked in the EPG for the next 7 days. Humax 9200, Hannington transmitter.

No problems for me so far, all Series-Links correctly flagged throughout the coming week.

We also had periodic Corrie failures on 9300 earlier in the new year. It was set to series record in the Recording Schedule but was not flagged in the EPG. Has been OK for the last week or so.

9300 tuned to Waltham locked up over Christmas while we were away so nothing recorded. 9200 tuned to Sutton Coldfield performed OK during same period.

The problem seems to have cleared now. Nothing missed since 4th January.

Hi. Just browsing through the Humax site and see that the dropped recordings saga still continues with the soaps. This irritated me when I was using the Humax 9150 but having gone to the dark side I(Sky) this problem doesn't seem to exist. Not being technically minded I wonder who is at fault here - is it the broadcaster or the Humax software? How do Sky get around this if it's the broadcasters' fault.

I spoke too soon - Eastenders did not record on Thursday 9th Feb!!!

There are a number of different factors contributing to this problem; the most prevalent cause is people with mistuned boxes, then the Humax software for the 9XX0 series boxes, then broadcast errors. The later HD Humax boxes are much more reliable at accurate recording (provided they are properly tuned) hence it is easy to see that the main ITV/BBC channels do a pretty good job but Channel 5 and the more obscure channels are less reliable,

I too have recently had this problem and deleting all the reservations in the Scheduled Recordings, and re-reserving them, seemed to fix it for me.

@JohnH77 - I have deleted and re-shcheduled my "soaps" recordings before. And a total retune, (which I have done), deletes all the reservations too.

We are tuned to the Rowridge transmitter with digital changeover dates of 7th March for BBC2 and 21st March for the rest. I hope the expected stronger signal will sort out the problem here.

If your signal is strong enough to give you 100% quality at the moment then any increase in signal strength will not make any difference.

Looking at my current Signal Detection page for the Hummy:-
Strength - 61%
Quality - 100% (what's the difference?)
New aerial fitted last year with all new double shielded cable up to the box/TV. We are 12.6 miles NNE of and in direct line to Rowridge.

From your post #45 it seems that you are expecting a stronger signal (after DSO) to cure any Accurate-Recording/Series-Link problems you may have, it won't. Your signal strength is more than adequate and you can't get any better than 100% quality.

Before you splash out any money on a 1TB disk be sure to read this post http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1597357 I upgraded my HUmax to 500GB and all went well. I then bought a Seagate 1TB by mistake, thinking I was buying another 500GB disk, and I just could not get the 1TB to work fully.

If you buy a used disk, be sure to run the Seagate Seatools test on the disk as described here http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1631210 and especially posts 11, 14 and 15. My original 500GB seemed to work perfectly for 12 months, and still seems to "work perfectly" now, but in fact all the spare blocks have been used up and the disk is effectively useless and I will lose all my recordings again.
I bought it as an ex Skybox disk and I now wonder (I didn't check it when I got it) if some, most or even all the spare blocks had been used up when I got it.
Whichever is the case, I now have faulty blocks on the disk which the Humax does not detect and therefore uses. When it uses a bad block to store sound or vision I get a glitch on playback which I can live with. But when it uses a bad block for any data associated with the file system, the file system gets corrupted and I have just lost all the recorded programmes - the list is empty.

I've been having problems with my 9200 for a while - missing recording and general slugishness being the main symptoms.

Are any of these resolved with firmware update - had a look the other day and it looks like the firmware I'm running is very old

I was considering buying a replacement box - but if a firmware update would fix some of the problems then that would be great - but I would still need to buy a USB - COM Null modem adaptor as I don't think that any of my computers has a COM port.

Which firmware gives the best stability and is it worth paying around £10 for the adaptor or is the 9200 a lost cause at this point?
