i think he's just pissed that Barlow has had a freak act that upstaged him.

Lois clearly went out to select a bunch shockers this year.

What else is he going to do? He would never leave.

I don't get it with Louis. When he's not on the live shows judging panel in the heat of the moment, he is very calm, controlled and actually speaks a lot of sense. He's also very honest, even if what he says can be a little harsh.

But he's just SO ANNOYING when he starts shouting over the other judges, starts comparing contestants to random celebrities, rants on about how each town should vote for each of their acts (eg. "I want all of Liverpool to pick up the phone and vote for Marcus!" errr this isn't Eurovision!) and just generally being an annoying prick.

I hate him sometimes but have some respect for him at other times!

But yeah he needs to call it a day,

If Louis leaves, the show is more or less doomed, especially if Barlow and Kelly stay, they'll kill it off with dullness within the year.

If he leaves I hope he does BGT, that show needs some fun injecting into it.

Good for Louis. He has woken up, he has smelled the coffee, and it stinks.

Louis has always had the short straw with the categories. he's never had the boys or the girls as far as I can remember - always the groups or the overs.

However, that doesn't seem to be the reason he;s talking about quitting, he doesn't get on with Kelly or Gary by the sound of it. He certainly doesn't need the money , that's for sure.

What a two-faced disloyal self-contradicting little shit this man is.

He contradicts himself in the SAME interview by saying the show is too competitive, but also "boring".

HE causes a good deal of the "drama" on the show, but now blames it on the others.

He breaks ranks with the show whenever he feels like it, and yet acts surprised there's tension with the other judges.

Sacking is too good for the man. He needs his arse kicked.

He had the under 25s in S2 (back before they had separate boys/girls categories, & also back when the mentors had much more control over their acts/song choices), & he won. The producers don't want to risk that happening again.

& yes, I get the impression that there's a lot of tension between Louis and Gary/Kelly, both of whom seem to be rather patronising towards him. (this is not the smartest move in the world, given that he's Simon's BFF and also worth way more than both of them combined.) I feel like Kelly especially doesn't really understand how successful he is.

Why don't you stop sitting on the fence and say what you really think

You're spot on btw

Thanks DS.

With regard Louis leaving - I can't see it happening. He seems to enjoy himself too much. Mind you this year is proving quite difficult, but I don't think Simon will have a hard job talking him around.

Remember when he was sacked and offered the job back? He snapped up the opportunity. It will take something momentous to get him to quit.

No. He's irritating and annoying quite often but he does tell the truth. What he said to Frankie was spot on and what 99.9% of the population was thinking. Frankie couldn't sing, he didn't have the X Factor and the only thing BIG about him was his hair. Good for Louis!

Then the others rounded on him and had a go at him for telling the truth.

Louis isn't necessarily the most charismatic of individuals, but he contributes a lot to the balance of the judging panel and to the success of the show. If all the judges were young and hip and good looking, things would be a lot duller, and without some off-the-wall competitors, the on-stage line-up would be equally tedious.

Stuart Heritage has written eloquently on this point:

He's just starting next year's salary negotiations early. And at a very good moment - when the show is being criticised for the Frankie drama/drop in ratings & after his argument with the other judges last week causing some headlines and further drama. He knows the producers wont want to lose him now as he still offers a sense of familiarity with longstanding viewers, particularly after having lost Simon, Cheryl & Dannii this year.

He's after a pay rise, he knows they need him more than ever now.

Conceivably Louis could leave after this year with Simon Cowell returning and Cheryl Cole given another chance on USA X Factor.

They'll keep him on the show because his novelty acts generate entertainment.

Yes he comes across as a bit of an idiot but the show wouldn't be as good without him. I think he understands the programme better than any of the other judges and makes it entertaining.

Also, read the Stuart Heritage article that silverhand linked to.
