Funny how they had a technical hitch, but by chance, they had a montage of ex contestants to hand....hmmm.....
They will have that ready as a live broadcast can always go wrong.

There is an article that it was a power cut at Fountain Studios:

Fountain studios have a massive back up power generator, the power outage was a the BT Tower in London, which Fountain (as well as many other broadcasters) use to relay their signal to before it gets to ITV (or BBC, CH5 etc).

They also have a number of HD Video and Audio feeds in both directions from the studios to BT Tower, but that appeared to be the weak link in the chain tonight where a power issue obivously interrupted transmission.

Yep it was the BT Tower. There is a note on the X-Factor Facebook site.

More like he was using the BT tower to snort it.

These things do happen sometimes guys and not very much these days to be fair. It wasn't the fault of the producers that there was a power failure at BT Tower. It's just unfortunate given how many other problems they've had this series. No doubt Cowell will return next year even if it means moving the show to a different time of year so he can do the US version also.
