Nooo you can't leave us in suspense, what's the gay cover up in Series 6?? ”
Threads get deleted if we name the names... but two male finalists in the top 5 in Series 6 purportedly had a bit of a fling and it was sweeped under the rug.

So let me get this clear X Factor, it's okay to be gay if you're a big camp stereotype like Johnny but otherwise you have to change lyrics so as to remain 'family-friendly'? Why do ITV/Syco think it is okay to be so blatantly homophobic?

Who was the guy a few years ago who was gay (not sure if he was openly or not, memory's quite vague on this) but it was quite cringeworthy when Cowell said "I bet you LOVED those female dancers" as though trying to "straighten" him out.”
Someone (I think Dermot) said that to Marcus this year, too.
I agree, it really annoyed me. It's weird, too, how the girls are always allowed to sing songs romantically/sexually aimed at women, and rarely change the female pronouns to male ones, yet the boys always have to change male pronouns to female ones.
He could have changed it to something else that kept it generic and vague :
"un-til you are mine" or something, would have been better - intriguing even.
His singing was fabulous on that song, but I agree about the pronoun - it made the performance seem a bit inauthentic given who he is.

I blame Rihanna. But seriously I've seen that couple of times on X-Factor this year and its just making the way they change the lyrics when gay guys sing all the more obvious. You would have thought after all these year and the number of gay contestants they would have got a clue.
Did Sami have a lyric change? I don't think anyone at the X-Factor would have objected if she wanted to keep a male song gender lyrics in place considering it had already been done with Janet/Amelia on the show. So why should it be different for Craig (not forgetting Marcus as well). But then again neither Marcus or Craig are an Adam Lambert so maybe they feel they don't have to worry about that since both as so asexual anyway.

Oh dear, yet ANOTHER Craig bashing thread. He really is starting to scare people into ganging up against him, he must be far more popular than they thought.

It's all about the headlines...that would get them.
These spineless people will amount to nothing in the music industry. Have the balls to push the boundaries.
That's why Will Young is still around. No one told him what to do after his first few singles.”
Will Young's most successful songs have non-gender specific lyrics.

when technically he isnt on the way to Amarillo?
the singer is singing the song the way the audience wants to hear it, not as a personal indication of his own feelings or a factual statement about his own life”
A singer is supposed to sing a song in a way that is convincing and that includes the lyric.
If he were straight, I would have expected or hoped that he would change the lyric to girl (I think it's ridiculous when straight contestants keep the wrong gender) but he's gay so why change it?

I don't think its bashing Craig. Most people realise that changing the lyrics is probably a decision made by the X-Factor production numpties and not Craigh himself.
In the modern age, does it matter wether a male or female inference or gender is mentioned in any vocals? It doesnt matter to me, I am gay and the sexuality directed towards in Craigs vocal tonight never even registered because it does'nt matter.
I do not see Craig as gay, straight or otherwise, the same as any other contestant, they are vocalists, not possible conquests.

If the lyrics don't matter then why change them? If the gender inference doesn't matter why were Amelia/Janet allowed to keep the female reference in the song originally sung by men while Craig's was changed. Its the double standards that exist and the way that the show has consistently gone out of its way to play down the sexuality of their gay contestants. Its not just Craig its just the X-Factor in general. Although in fairness I would say that they aren't as bad as they have been in previous years, Simon isn't there to talk about how much the guys love the female dancers and correct me if I am wrong but letting the girls keep the female references in their songs seems to be a thing thats happening more this year than before.

But, to me, it makes no difference, I never noticed that the girls kep the original words, its all about the vocals. The sexuality within a song doesnt bother me, but I am not sexist in any way.

But to me and many others it looks like a blatant cover-up. The fact that they make changes makes it stand out.
I didn't notice this, mainly because I find Craig so toe-curling to watch, but it doesn't surprise me. If it's no big deal to them why change the lyrics? It obviously is a big deal and it shouldn't be.
It's like they are stuck in the 70's. The non-treatening camp stereotypes can be used for laughs and innuendo, but otherwise being gay is strictly not to be mentioned.
Will a contestant ever get "And all the boys will be after you!" comment in the way every single straight male contestant gets about the girls? Either don't do it at all, or do the same for everyone. Not one rule for straight contestants and one rule for gay ones.
So, as this is deffinately now established as being a Craig bashing thread, why was there no similar Marcus bashing thread last week? He is also gay and sang female inspired lyrics within reet petite.
I guess that the only different is that Marcus is percieved (goodness knows why) as good looking material.
