The others did a left, but Russell did not lift Flavia, which let their dance down a bit.

Let's be fair, if anything would not only have let their dance down but would've put Flav straight into hospital......it would've been Russell lifting his partner

Let's just not go there

Maybe they were playing it safe with his knee being bad. You can choose not to put lifts in if you don't want to - Vincent left them out of his AS with Natalie Cassidy.

I forgot about that - for a fleeting second I thought Flav might lift Russell.

Flavia probably didn't feel safe having Russell lift her which is fair enough. I thought Harry came close to dropping Aliona at one stage tonight which would have been nasty if he had - lifts can be very dangerous if they go wrong.

I wonder if Flavia couldn't do a move that looked like she was being lifted by him but actually she was leaping or something.

I recall Torvill and Dean doing a move where it looks like Jane chucked Christopher about but actually it was mostly Chris jumping.

If it can be done on ice...............

I doubt the lack of lifts came from Flavia feeling unsafe.

American Smooth's dont need lifts. Theyre allowed them but theyre not needed.

This one didnt need them as the showbizzy build up and ending given was sufficient IMO.

They needed something....I was suprised they didnt at least attempt a lift (assisted jump) and after they bigged up the 'reveal' on ITT I was expecting Russell in a Tutu and the very least....the reality fell a bit flat...but they will be around for a few more weeks I think.

With his knee injured, there's no way Russell should be trying to do lifts.

Did you expect Vincent to lift Natalie Cassidy in series 7 - and were you very disappointed at the absence of lifts?

I only ask because judging by the discussion one would think this is the first AS not dependent on a lift for impact. Do I correctly recall that Vincent and Nat (sans lifts) survived to fight another day?

You are right - They danced their AS in week 6 but stayed in the show until elimination in week 11. I remember thinking at the time that it was a pity he couldn't put lifts in the dance as he had done some lovely ones with Rachel, but better that than putting his back out

And well do I remember little Vincent saying with a straight face that it was because they were the same height that it would be awkward to lift her ...
