Janet - Damned if she does and damned if she doesn't!

Dermot was right.

Judges need to cut her some slack!

Except there is a mid-ground between piano ballads and bubblegum pop.

she just can't sing. Ballads or up tempo. No can do

Maybe it's not the song choice that's the problem.

To be fair, she did a uptempo number but she looked uncomfortable, she didnt sing great and forgot the words - the judges couldn't ignore that!

I think she needs to work on getting more comfortable with doing songs other than ballads, she doesn't take a risk, hence why it's become boring.

I agree she did look uncomfortable doing up-tempo!

Actually she could have just respected the song and did something close to the original arrangement, which doesn't exactly require her prancing around the stage. The original version doesn't need any further stripping down. I think THAT is the problem.

I thought she was good tonight,. I also have a problem with the way Gary Barlow is so critical. She's 16 years old FFS. She has time to develop.

How do you mean? Do a karaoke version like Kitty?

I totally agree. I thought it was something that she was able to take such an iconic Queen song and make it her own like that. And I hate the way Gary does a standing ovation each week for each of his acts and tries to work the audience up to a frenzy and then is so extremely critical of other acts in quite an unpleasant and personal way (Simon would be rude but not quite like this). I've gone right off him.

Yup. I was waiting for Craig, Marcus or Misha to do a sterling version of Somebody To Love because they have the voices for it. I liked Janet at audition stages, but you really cannot get past the fact that she sings the exact same song every week.

I think the judges have cut her too much slack. Until recently, none of them mentioned the fact that she sounds the same every week. Last week, the only tangible difference was the background music. She still sang in the same style. That's the problem.

If you know anything about music you will understand that you can still put your own spin to the song even if you keep close to the original arrangement. Go watch Joe's performance 2 years ago.

You're right.

I just don't like her voice.

Initially I thought Gary might be a better jufge and mentor as he's a performer himself, but he has gone right down in my estimation.

I really liked Janet's version of that song tonight. The problem Gary seems to have is........seen it already... over and over !!

It was interesting that the return of Amelia means Kelly now has three acts left...

I think Janet may be the fall girl here..........as a means to reduce Kelly's number down to two... which I think is a shame if it happens.

Her voice was good but the arrangement she was given was rubbish. She needs something more like Sweet Child o Mine again. Gary and Tulisa have been bloody miserable sods these past few weeks though.

Let's just say that my taste in music is probably more eclectic than your own.

Indeed.

Although that said, it does seem she [and Marcus] are getting a little too much flack for finding their niche [the main point of the show for them personally, surely] too early!

At least compared to Craig and Misha...

Sorry - Janet's version of that classic song was so painful. I don't blame her at all . Whoever set up that arrangement of the song made a mess of it. You do not slow it down like that.
Terrible! - It might cost her the place in the competition .

Janet was fine tonight. And I'm not a fan.

Good song choice with an interesting approach.

Those that say 'boring' don't always appreciate 'subtle'.

I am really fed up with Janet she is just awful. She has tried to vary her act and failed dismally, she really cannot sing, her first audition was good but for me she hasn't got anywhere near that since. She should go home tomorrow

I'm fed up of fms quoting her age. fgs if she's old enough to appear on the show, she's old enough to take the criticism and be judged the same as the others.. After all, Amelia was the best of the night tonight and she's only 17

Difference being that Gary didn't lay into her about how boring and predicatble she was - quite the opposite.

And I don't agree with you about Amelia being best of the night. I much preferred Janet and I haven't particularly supported her before..
