As I said above, this is the norm for media/news companies to do. In something high profile with numerous outcomes, they will always write preemptive articles, and adjust as necessary as the details/new unfolds.

Far more serious 'newspapers' have done so in far more serious cases. For example, the Daily Mail's pre-prepared article on the Knox verdict (which went the other way):

I can understand that, but submitting them (knowing how quick Google is to pick up these articles through it's searching) all online is pretty dangerous don't you think for such a high profile show?

It's stupid more than dangerous (given the topic). Google takes a few hours min to index, but these pages are usually found by people ID pushing, rather than a search engine.
