Amelia either couldn't support the high notes or was just completely flat on them

And the whole thing was lacking power. I don't get it.

The positive is that she might get the Miserable Bitch press coverage now, rather than Misha. Crack a smile love.

High notes were perfect couldn't fault it, she sang in tune and extremely powerfully for her young age.

Or maybe you just don't have a good ear for music because she was stunning tonight.

Everything was right about her performance.

They really weren't. I thought she was great pre-lives, but she had the same issue with Billie Jean. It was reach-and-miss. And for some reason they honed in on one of the worse ones during the performance recap.

Excuse me for wanting a bit of strength from someone singing The Show Must Go On. :/

Compared to Janet who swallowed her first high note, Kitty who underpowered and Marcus, who just crossed the road to avoid any high notes at all, Amelia was Maria Callas.

Yes, that must be it. It can't be that you lot just refuse to accept that she could be in any way flawed.

I agree - the original Show Must Go On is a tour de force. To be fair, none of them would have done it justice. But it was way too big for Amelia.

I agree with Billy Jean as this song was meant for a male singer and not in the correct key, but tonight she hit the notes fine.

I'm a big Queen fan and I'll be honest...she was better than the original...

I think Amelia just saved the travesty that is X Factor 2011.

She may be the best singer they have. I'm on the fence whether she compares to Leona or Alexandra which is the difficulty she has if we're to see her as the winner as opposed to which ever random male.

lack power?? I would say the opposite it was very powerful. Im not a huge fan of 'shouty' singing - but most of it sounded great. Also considering she had two days to prepare, and must have been extremely nervous given the circumstances, I thought she did very well

If it was too big for her she wouldn't of sung it in its original tuning or key.

The song would be too big if she lowered the key, but she didn't she sang it accurately.

You couldn't fault it? You honestly thought it was faultless?

Best of the night (not hard is it?), but by no means faultless. I too think the song was too big for her. She has a great voice but it ain't that great.

People seem to be a bit blind to any criticism of St Amelia.

It was a great vocal, I think some on here were always going to try to find fault with her performance no matter how it went.

Not at all, he's actually partly right. It's a massive song with some huge notes to hit and hold, while she was good, very few people can do it full justice.

At least she stuck to the original melody and unlike Janet who had to change the melody around to suit her limited vocal range.

She was noticeably flat when she sang Billie Jean. Tonight, she wasn't.

OP is right re the very higest notes that they played in the re-cap.

I thought overall it was otherwise fabulous though. It was only a note or two out of an otherwise very strong performance/

They are all out the odd note, it is live after all (although the very top notes do seem to be an achilles heel for Amelia)

Lol you must be mental! If Amelia put anymore power into that performance Tulisa's wig would have blown off into the audience

every act has their song changed to accomodate the singers limitations

its most obvious on janets songs which are regularly changed to ensure she doesnt have to hit the notes she cant sing

Amelia wasnt perfect but in the "x factor world" she was the closest the competition has to a genuine recording artist
