21:20: Best performance of the night so far from Janet. In Digital Spy's opinion. A moving, tender version of 'Somebody To Love'. Louis loves it, I love it. And Gary Barlow is attempting to suck any last elements of fun out of the competition. Janet is told she needs to change her style up. Last week, she was told to go back to basics. What did you want, Gary? A bongo solo in the middle of a touching reworking of 'Somebody To Love'.

I will let the above speak for itself and post my own views below.

My thoughts as fan?

Because of last week's forgetting of the words, I found I was listening to the performance rather than the song this week, and perhaps worrying a bit.

I didn't need to. For me this was the best she has sung since her audtion in terms of voice control and voice quality.

I am now going to download the track from iTunes and add it to my Janet album. I think it will be a favourite of mine before long.

The judges can't make up thier minds. im starting to go off her a bit now mainly because the judges always complain about her. I would still like her to win as long as marcus and craig are nowhere near the title. But for me the spark isn't there anymore.im so disapointed in her

I trust the experts and Gary Barlow knows music better than anyone...

I was let down a lot personally From really liking her early game, I've supported Janet less and less as the weeks have gone on, and tonight I could just see all the flaws that her detractors could sadly. It was just outright bad for me.

I get concerned every time she gasps for breath.

I hope she doesn't end up collapsing one week

More boring than Sophie Habibis, and not as good a singer

Nice to see you back Mr. B

So Gary is the new loser Eh? I tend to agree

Good luck supporting him.

I thought she did really well tonight...I wasn't gone on the arrangement of the song but I thought she handled it well.
I loved her audition and the first few live performances but was disappointed the last 2 weeks.
Think she brought it back again tonight and hope she goes through. I'm not sure Kelly knows what to do with her...She really needs to tune into some Irish singers like Dolores O Riordan.

I don't know how people can say that she was terrible tonight. I thought she gave a stunning performance. It was so different to the original, but it really worked. I thought it was really haunting. I think she's a fantastic talent.

I don't know what Gary Barlow was talking about saying that she's boring. He must see her as a threat. I find HIS two acts boring and despite Craig giving his best performance tonight, I can't get excited about them.

Also, Dermot was spot on. What is Janet supposed to do to get Gary's approval? He wanted her to sing something different, so she did and he then said that she should go back to what she does best. When she did that tonight, he still wasn't happy? What was she supposed to do?

Maybe they need some advice from delores or the cores girls or even someone like Annie Lennox

When I watched the performance through with my friends we were almost divided 50/50 on those that thought it was good and those who thought it was poor.

I, personally, didnt think it worked. Queens rendition of the song is incredibly powerful, hard hitting and unforgettable; Janet's rendition was almost the exact opposite. Her voice was good, but the choice, for me, was off. I'd rather see her doing more softer songs; like the song she sang week1 and in her audition. Either way I agree that she has an amazing voice and is incredibly stunning!

In case you are being serious -
His comments are COMPLETE nonsense and as a musician he ought to know that that was actually a very creative arrangement of the song, and unlike last week her vocal was great on it.

He also displayed on Xtra-factor that he hasn't f*cking CLUE about Queen.
( And he's a pretty good songwriter but if he thinks he's in the same league as FM he's delusional ).

With so many Janet threads and posts she really is dividing this forum, you either love her or dislike her

I thought it was alot better than last week's - though I still always find her voice shaky from the start of all her performances.

And I think a marriage of the upbeat stuff from last week and this sort of thing [the dubbed 'sad-happy' route] might be a musical direction to hone in on.

I'm still confused at why it's seemingly so bad for certain acts [Janet and Marcus] to have found their niche so early, but not for others [Craig and Misha] as well...

Janet's performance tonight was simply beautiful.

The last two weeks I was worried for her. But not this week.

But of course, I've been ringing her voting line as usual.

I thought she was great this week. First time I've really liked her performance on the live shows. (hope this won't be the kiss of death for her)

Yes of course, like last week when he told Frankie he was brilliant?? Oh yeah and the week before that when he told Frankie he had talent???

Good performance this week by Janet... And she's safe.
Sadly Kitty, on first and a small fan base, it certain for the bottom two, though she doesn't deserve it.
Kitty up against Craig (shock) or Misha and the panel will boot Louis's act.

I agree with you to an extent. Craig went out of his comfort zone last week with an uptempo number, and he pretty much nailed it vocally and performance wise.

Acts like Misha, Kitty and Little Mix all found their niche right from the get go, but what makes them better is that they can stay in the genre but not regurgitate the same performance over and over.

Marcus...dude, stop trying so hard. That montage of his various looks over the year would rival Katie Waisel's multiple personalities. It's like, "Hey everyone, it's the new Marcus Collins! What do you think? Am I a hit?"

Janet...oh, Janet. I agree with both Tulisa and Gary on that one. Even when she sings well, if I'm not in the mood for that kind of music, I won't appreciate it. She also has a habit, for the most part, of making all her performances sound exactly the same. She's not very diverse in her own genre. Elie Goulding has the same style, but her album songs show alot more diversity than Janet has shown in her live performances. I think she's pretty much hit her "expire date" on this competition...especially with Amelia back in the mix.

Funny, I was thinking the exact same thing about Misha, Marcus and Little Mix - All of their performances are so similar, but because it's not as enjoyable to me my attention starts to drift about 30 seconds in.

On the other hand, Janet's voice grabs my attention and as a result every performance has been different.
