I've got this on DVD and it still makes me laugh out loud, even though it's over 20 years old.

I love the sketches with the posh, right-wing TV announcer.

"I'd like to apologise to our viewers in the north. It must be awful for you."

Way ahead of her time was Vic.

I like her spoof documentaries. "what are 'oops" "spaghetti 'oops!"

Four hours of shows on now on BBC2. Be nice if they'd stuck The Day We Sang or Eric and Ernie on the end as the film instead of some Dustin Hoffman flop but it's a decent chunk of programming.

I don't know, but why isn't Julie Walters a Dame yet? She's so brilliant.

The Day We Sang was the star of the Xmas offering a couple of years ago when it was first aired, although hidden away by the scheduling knobs . IIRC one of the only shows to get absolute praise on here. They repeated it last year I think but it would have been a fitting tribute to put it on prime time bbc1 this Xmas . Why they don't get the zeitgeist I never understand .

Caroline Aherne praising her in this 1998 show is a salutary reminder of this apocalyptic year. I see Cliff Richard was another subject in this Best of British strand - Wouldn't happen now!

"THAT Day We Sang" was at 9PM on Boxing Day 2014 - yeah, well hidden.

A commercial release of her That's Life appearances would seem to be worth doing. I haven't checked but I'm guessing they're not even on the BBC Store either. Yep, just checked and all that's on there by her is the doco about Day We Sang. Seems disrespectful.

Even more incredible is that her Christmas special All Day Breakfast from 1992 has never been released on anything. You have to go to youtube for it. It's far better than the rather lame Christmas 'midlife' special shown tonight on BBC 2. Ironically the scheduling of this caused a rift between her and the BBC. They - rightly - thought it not good enough for a prime Christmas slot and she was very miffed.
