I used to look forward to see them but now I just skip it.They are so embarassing and not even funny.
"Here there are in training "should be how the couples are getting on in training. What they find difficult about the dance....Not the bizarre and scripted vt that we see!

They do seem to be getting worse don't they. The knight in shining armour stuff for Brendan and Holly was cringeworthy and why they needed to make Chelsee look like such a complete idiot being trained to be a lady is beyond me. I would rather see how they are getting on in training, not how they are managing to waste lots of time instead of training. The art of faffing about has obviously now been extended to the training studio

I totally agree. Thankfully I started watching late so could ff some of them. Unfortunately not enough. I'd much rather see them all training than those ridiculous VT's.

Waste of time and money.

I know ITT also do some cheesy VTs, but I quite like the ones where they splice together clips of training and give it a theme.
And at least it is not taking them out of the training room

Couldn't agree more. Get rid and take the props with you BBC

Unanimity is rare, but those bloody VTs seem to have achieved it. Everybody hates them, even Flavia had a mild grumble about having to waste time filming them. This probably means the Beeb will schedule a programme devoted to them for peak Christmas evening viewing and a compilation DVD will be available shortly.

I fear you could be right. I must make a note to ensure I have ample supplies of gin in for Christmas to ensure I fall asleep and miss it! Although I think the programme itself would probably send me to sleep.

Is this something the Beeb have swiped from the US show? It is just really naff.

The astonishing thing is that they must have some (really crappy) individual / team tasked to come up with this shit. They're sacking journalists and cutting back the World Service, and paying these individuals to crap things up. Bizarre.

Alternatively. Interview the couples. Show the week's training. Focus on a) the dance - how about some technical guff for beginners on origin or demands of particular dance b) the dynamics of the relationship c) the difficulties / delights of the week d) other matters arising eg Artem's back e) the choreography. If you include for every couple 2 or 3 of those elements you have a good intro that actually improves the show.

Why send round crews to film poorly conceived, weakly scripted, barely achieved and above all irrelevant nonsense. The fact that they are cliched and frequently patronising to the contestants doesn't endear them.

I don't mind them when what they are showing is actually helping with their dancing.
In previous years, some contestants have gone to ballet school to help their posture, or had a session with an actor to help them project the story of a dance.

But racing ferraris to help with speed of jive???
Washing cars???
And no more comedy moustaches!

Pie and mash to help the foxtrot is a new low.
Weird concussion-inspired hallucinations in which your dance partner is a fairy godmother add nothing relevant.
Grotesque moustaches are grotesque moustaches.
It's deeply lame and the danger is that the VTs take away the energy of the studio, all the nerves and excitement vanish in this cringey nonsense.

It's wasteful at every level. BBC, you're sabotaging your own output.

Nope - DWTS has plenty of real training footage. I know it's easy to assume eveything negative about Strictly comes from DWTS, but people forget that Strictly has always done these silly skits (including the actioning of the much overused 'go to ballet classes/get acting lessons'). They have just, for some inexplicable reason, decided to do them every blasted week this year.

I agree. Its OK to do things to help them with their dancing, but the other material is just childish.

It's the BBC tasking it to the work experience kids that come through the place every month.

The BBC corporate IQ has slumped below 100 and will be sinking to 50 some time soon

Which means that extra terrestrials must be making Merlin.

I agree entirely cringeworthy!

I am surprised the BBC has adopted this attitude, it really has lowered the intensity and expectation of watching the programme - I flick over for these now, and return back when I hope they are over.

I much preferred the older style of showing us what went on in the training sessions, and as others have said - a trip to an appropriate environment - eg the ballet for posture and lines, - shows the learning process.

I would rather the show was shortened with a live results show later, than padded out with this nonsense.

Last night the show whizzed by for me. I FF'd through the VTs and Tess's time-filling and just watched the dances and the judges verdicts.

I'm not alone, that's good.

I have to say, I would far rather see training than these types of VTs. The odd one probably wouldn't be bad but it's every week with every couple.

the sad thing is the BBC really think we like seeing this stuff, they get it so wrong sometimes

They are completely cringeworthy!
Why can't we just watch them train again like the good ol' days?

I know the Beeb wants to be creative and I welcome that but some of the promos before the dances are so wet they are embarrassing.
Do the odd one if they can think of a really good idea otherwise just show the training.

Oh I totally agree, I didn't really mind them before, but last night something obviously must've snapped in me, because I did nothing but cringe at the VTs, seriously what were they thinking of?!

Horrendous. Totally naff. I always mute the sound until I can see they've gone off!

Well, that's a clean sweep so far. No supporters for the VTs.

I love Chelsee but I couldnt finish to watch her vt what is the point of showing pash and mash for the foxtrot?
And Holly !
Well all of them were horrendous.I still remember Jason's rumba vt now that was the icing on the cake.

I can't stand the VTS and fast forward or mute them - a waste of time all around IMO, and more often than not patronising. *shudder*
