You don't even know that both got good well known songs on the night, so that's just a excuse. Sophie nailed it and Amelia gave a karaoke performance of her song its as simple as that.
Kelly was either doing what the producers had suggested, OR, as she has demonstrated through the series so far, she is a terrible judge (and mentor).
