I like Kelly, but I've also noticed her peculiar vowelling and find it annoying.

The way Kelly speaks and comes across is consistent with everything I've seen from her all the way back to her DC days. I don't see what the big deal is because she's being herself.
It's really cringey and embarassing.
I just get the feeling that she doesn't talk like that normally, so why ham it up?

It seems to me that is exactly what she's doing "hamming it up". It's like when other tv hosts are talking esp on Loose Women and they say things like "you go girl" in an american type accent. Kelly's just doing that imo

When I'm out with my friends, I come across very differently then I do with my co-workers. Sometimes, I slip up and my co-workers see my unfiltered personality when I'm off guard or just don't care anymore.
What I see with Kelly is no different. She has her moments when she's putting a filter on her spoken dialogue, but most of the time she's like, "Screw it" and comes across exactly the same way as I recall her being in DC.

That was more intelligible than a lot of what he'd say. I was always fascinated by his array of utterances and phrases that didn't seem to mean anything at all. He'd say things like Oh, maaaan... and you couldn't even tell whether it was intended as praise, disapproval, sitting on the fence or just mere filler.

Nonsense - what if we were talking about a Bristol dialect. I'm merely asking why Kelly goes into stereotypical Southern black girl mode when that's not how she is from day to day - it's a bit like me mincing it up if I was on X Factor - unnecessary.
