It seems like no one can win!!

If a contestant has a distinct style, they're told 'You're boring -you do the same thing every week'. Then if they'll have to do something different and they're told 'That wasn't as good as your previous performances'!!

If this was real life they could just do the same thing all the time. It's not as though you get Meatloaf doing an RnB crossover or Dizzee Rascal slipping on a pair of skinny jeans and becoming a new indie genius!!

I know it's been the same for years but artists more often than not have a specific style so why try and make them be able to cover all genres??!

Totally agree. It happens every year.

If they sing the same type of way they are either described as a one trick pony or they have found their identity.

But thats whole point of x factor isn't it?

If they wanted to do the same genre week after week they shouldn't go onto x factor in the first place.

Although Astro seems to have got away with it in the US

I think thats the problem.

Some are told they are a one trick pony - so its a bad thing

Others are praised by saying they have found their idebtity.

You can't have it both ways

And Ray Quinn managed to turn everything into big band (even Waterloo!!!)

Surely the premise of the xfactor (well the original premise anyway!!) is to find 'a star'.... Not someone who's average but can master all different styles of all - ie a jack of all trades - a master of none....!
