This has been mentioned on the forum but I missed it happening. Can someone explain exactly what took place?

I mean we all know it was fixed for Amelia to come back but was she really announced as winner before the voting ended?

I would really like to know what went on.

She wasn't announced winner before voting ended. Dermot announced the voting was about to end like two ad breaks beforehand. At least thats what I saw anyway..

STV made 4 articles all saying that person won the vote, people only looked at Amelia's and cried fix........

I heard there was a supposed Twitter tweet announcing it before the show came back on [to then reveal Amelia].

But I was actually watching the show, not the forums here, at the time [so this was afterwards], so don't take it as 100%.

STV wrote an article for each of the returnees before the result so they could publish fast after the show announcement.

Except there was a "technical glitch" - read editor didn't set the publish settings correctly and the public could see the articles.

There wasn't just one for Amelia, there was one for all 4 of them, I saw them (well only bothered with two of them that confirmed all I needed to know) so can confirm this is true.

The twitter stuff was people having an emotional breakdown due to the STV **** up.

She was so far ahead (48% of votes) she could have been declared long before the voting actually finished.

she got about 50% of the votes. There was no way that anyone else could have got more than 50% even if the vote had been open for a few more hours.

X Factor has apologised for the early announcement - reported in one of today's newspapers.
