To win the public over is easy, but I don't think Walsh has the knowledge to do it. You have to give them something unexpected, not controversial, not with flames firing from the stage. They expect that by now and so the change needs to be the reverse of that. Kitty needs to sing a nice gentle ballad, with her hair down, much less make-up, in a simple, flowing dress. Without a doubt, that would be the unexpected now and it would push her towards the X Factor final.

^ I saw this comment today and I couldn't agree with more. I think this is exactly what Kitty needs to do to make herself look like a serious contender for winning the competition or at least make the finals.

If she can wow the judges right now by giving them an amazing, emotional vocal of a well-known ballad, they'll see her as worthy of the final. It'll need to be nice and gentle in some places, vocally challenging, somewhat unique and will need a big finish. No-one this year has managed to hold a captivating long note really. Was expecting that from Janet this week but it didn't happen

Seriously, Louis Walsh absolutely has the 'knowledge' to succeed with Kitty. He's not an idiot; he can see just as well as internet-based commenters that big, controversial performances won't connect with the audience. His job isn't to win with Kitty; it's to keep people talking whilst following the producers' orders.
