I know the papers are to be taken with a pinch of salt, but could this be the reason she didn't defend Janet last night?
Quote:
“BAD blood between The X Factor judges and their acts is plunging the show into turmoil, the Sunday Mirror can reveal.

Kelly Rowland, 30, is barely talking to Janet Devlin after losing patience with her constant strops.

And Kitty Brucknell is furious with Louis Walsh after the Irish judge said earlier this week she was “definitely not going to win the competition”.

A show source said: “From the outset the line has been that the mentors really care about their *categories and look out for their best interests above anything else. But the fact they’re at each others’ throats shows how bad the atmosphere is this series.”

Backstage sources say 16-year-old Janet – *originally considered the shyest contestant – has become *impossible to work with, refusing to wear outfits picked for her and arguing about song choices.

On Thursday night Janet refused to go to a Tinie Tempah gig with her mentor and Misha B.”

She didn't defend her because she's indefensible, she's a terrible singer

None of that is bad, though. If someone told me to sing a song I didn't want to sing, wear something I didn't want to wear, or attend a gig I didn't want to attend, I'd say no, too, and if pressed, get pissed. Understandable.

Kelly knows that Misha is finished and she doesn't know what songs to give Janet. She was the one who put Amelia in cold-storage in anticipation of the dramatic come-back. Now she is putting all her efforts into Amelia.

She didn't defend her because it was Gary who gave the critique. She did see fit, however, to defend Frankie passionately last week because Louis gave the critique.

This also.

I've noticed that Louis never seems to actually back his own acts. Even last night he was backing Amelia to return over his own act.

I don't like the girl's singing but she's got my 100% support on that one

I'm guessing you are from the US. I don't think Janet is allowed under-age drinking in the house!

Last nights audition clips showed Sammi singing fabulously yet on the show she was never given songs that showed off her voice as well as that. I dont like Janet but I suspect she knows when she could do a different song better and I agree with her.

Completely agree. She knows she has messed up with the others and she is lucky they are still there. She knows Amelia has the public behind her and will concentrate on her now.

I can understand not attending a gig I didn't want to attend, or even singing a song that I didn't feel would work, but if Janet's really making a big fuss over the outfits given to her, she should probably learn to pick her battles. I doubt they're expecting her to wear sequined bikinis & temporary tramp stamps. Even established recording artists are often expected to sing songs or wear outfits they don't like, so it's a bit precious of Janet if she really is refusing to do these things, and I'd be annoyed with her too.

Really? So if you were on your way to work, and your work involved performing in front of millions of people, and I said, wait, wear this, and you thought what I'd given you was hideous, you'd be okay with that? I certainly wouldn't.

If my work consisted of singing one song a week in a competition for a potentially lifechanging contract? I'd suck it up, and maybe make fun of myself later on.

But seriously, if Janet is really set on singing/wearing/doing what she likes, she's definitely in the wrong competition, and probably in the wrong industry. It's all very well for her to want to be herself, but if she wants a long-lasting recording contract and a chance at international fame, the one thing she does not want is a reputation for being difficult to work with. I'm not saying it's her fault, but honestly, none of this is boding well for her future career.

(this is, of course, assuming the article is true, which it may well not be.)

she as her own identity theres nothing wrong with that, she has said herself she likes to choose her own clothes
we never see her in sequins or the big dresses or dressed as a circus act simply because in her own words its about the voice not the clothes
im also guessing she didnt go to the gig due to been ill this week

You could be right there- she prefers to shout down Louis, it is a shame if there is bad feeling between Janet and Kelly- Kelly is an adult and should deal with situations as such not playground "barely talking" rubbish

Some mentor Kelly is : it was left to Louis and Dermot to defend Janet when she came under attack from Barlow.

This is the music industry though rombod. Unless you're a very successful artist and well established like Beyonce, you tend to have little control, especially in the early stages and DEFINITELY when you haven't even got a contract.

The only time you can get more freedom and control is if you sign to a smaller label like the label Adele is with.

That's because Louis has been in this industry for too long - he knows who will work and who won't. He knows how to market people, and what the public want. Look at Jedward - he helped them make their mark.

Having said that on the live shows, if one of his acts cops some flack, Louis will stand up for them.

But then I guess you wouldn't have signed up for X Factor either cos everyone knows you have to be a performing monkey, how come she didn't?

Dermot's the freaking man!

Gary and Kelly are just raging egos, they're sucking the fun right out of the show.

Oh don't even get me started on work outfits!!! Lol my department which is in a very well established commercial business has new management and now I have to wear a uniform to work after years of not wearing one, I hate it with a passion ...

However, in order to keep my job I have to wear it and smile all day and do my job to the best of my ability and not let the uniform hinder that. Grrrrrrrrrrr, I do feel Janet's pain but if you wanna keep your job honey you've just gotta be that performing monkey

That what pissed me off. She attacked Louis last week when he spoke out against Frankie, and last night, when Gary was particularly harsh to Janet ( and on her birthday too... makes it seem worse somehow), madam sat back and said NOTHING to defend Janet. I was gobsmacked !! Maybe her throat was at her again !!!
