'X Factor' denies Amelia Lily fix claims - but Kelly follows script anyway

X Factor bosses have denied claims that Amelia Lily's return was fixed after it was reported online an hour before the result was officially announced.
...It said: "Amelia Lily is back in The X Factor after *winning the public vote tonight. As Dermot O'Leary read out her name, mentor Kelly Rowland jumped to her feet screaming as Amelia Lily looked stunned.
"Now's the time for Amelia to prove that she really does have The X Factor and can take on the remaining acts in the* *competition as she goes on to deliver a performance of, *appropriately, 'The Show Must Go On'."

How very interesting. They not only knew the result but they even knew Kelly's reaction.

Presumably Kelly knew ahead of time and her script said "When Amelia wins, Jump to feet and scream".

All this proves is what we already know, the Judges are scripted and someone posted a possible eventuality on the website before time.

Weren't we running 15 mins behind last night?

But she didn't jump to her feet, so this thread is a waste of time.

Kelly didn't jump to her feet screaming though.

And there were four versions of that page online, for each possible winner of the vote.

Umm

Kelly didn't jump up and scream, she sat and moved her arms

And Amelia wasn't shocked, we didn't see her reaction at all.

Always interesting to see the conspiracy theories think they're 'above' everyone not being manipulated when they really are, not by the show, but by the media.

look she got 48% of the vote!

End of.

This was mentioned on the Xtra Factor last night after people talked about it on Twitter. Ollie and Caroline said it was all above board ..........

And I thought it couldn't get worse than last years Katie/Cher fiasco, but no, they've done it again!

Though at least last year, we had Wagner, the peoples champion to cheer for. Ah the simple joy of watching Simon's smugness fade at Wagner's progression throughout the competition, simply awesome.

Did you not read the replies to your other thread? They wrote preemptive articles for ALL contestants.

It's the norm in the media/online-news. They write the presumed/events outcome for all aspects, and edit as the story unfolds. Unfortunately the articles were set live.

Enough with the conspiracy theories This is your second thread on the same topic, and people already explained it to you. You even thanked everyone ffs!

I'm sure you posted a thread or in a thread about this topic before and the early returnee announcement was explained to you.

Why are people latching onto the Amelia's Back announcement, there were 4 announcements, not just one.

There was one for Amelia, one for Jonjo, one for James and on for 2 Shoes, I saw them, they were screen grabbed, they were linked on twitter, they were discussed and STV announced why all 4 were on the website early, which happened to be the reason most sensible people posted when it happened.

As bob_fossil has explained, its quite normal for news outlets to write the articles early and then publish them to their websites when the outcome is known. There was a hiccup and they were published.

Having worked with content publishing systems news websites use I can guarantee you that the systems have publishing and embargoing (auto publish at a set time) features for this very purpose and that they are used with regularity.

This matter has been dealt with already. They had four possible outcomes for the four contestant and it was a mistake that the amelias put online when they were just testing the site. Next.

The "technical difficulties" had nothing to do with the time that the phone lines were closing and the time that the announcement was made.

....................... and do other fairy stories include that bookmakers were only testing their sites when they put odds up for Amelia two weeks ago?

The new part about this is that there is a big difference between predicting the result for everyone and and predicting a judges reaction for a particular result.

If they could do that then (a) they knew the result or (b) the judge's reaction was scripted.

EDIT see discussion below for clarification.

I assumed that last sentence was true. So if the article I just read is wrong then so am I. Sorry about that.”

Well the articles will have been written with a certain amount of placeholder content which would be edited to match actual events; which is quicker than writing it from scratch and getting it passed by the editor.

They were afterall drafts that should never have been seen outside of STV.

No, I meant the article about the article.

Here we are. Quote:

"Lily was later confirmed as the returning act, with Rowland reacting as the story predicted."

Here is the actual link so you can check it out for yourself http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s103/...ix-claims.html

It's just reporting on XF explaining the STV cock up though. It's contents are correct, that's what the STV article wrote. In the STV article it said that Kelly jumped to her feet, but that was clearly placeholder text; an alternative to "insert kellys reaction here".

Edit: Oh the article says Kelly reacted as the story predicted, they need to watch the show back again did they.

And even if Kelly DID jump to her feet, let's be honest. If I was writing a draft article I'd say "her mentor jumping to her feet" would be a pretty safe statement.

Nooooo... Read what I just said at 14:46 above. The article I was quoting was written for Digital Spy

Yeah I noticed and edited accordingly. The article is incorrect.

But the STV article is also incorrect as Amelia didn't look stunned as she was announced as the returnee as nobody saw her reaction.
