Every year IAC is pushed aside for the stupid football.

Great though IAC may be, there are very few things in life more important than football. Cuban cigars come a pretty close second however.

I do think football should be on a sports channel - the mainstream channels should be for regular shows. Football is given way too much airtime over other sports - people get obsessed. I don't begrudge them having it on TV, just not as a higher priority than anything else. It's not like the players even come from the town that people support, or even in many cases the same country.

I do understand people don't want it on a subscription channel, but they could at least put it on ITV2 if they cant bring out a free sports channel

Actually I wouldnt even care if Celebrity was on ITV2 so long as they show it

The match tonight being a Champions League game is watched Worldwide by far more people than which watch I'm a celebrity.
They are not going to move a very high profile game just for a show like this.
ITV having the Champions League is big business and will be their biggest program hence the massive money they pay to have the rights to just one of the games during the week, they try to get the rights to two games Tuesday and Wednesday so be lucky that Sky outbid ITV or it would be two nights without I'm a Celebrity or a later start time.

Champions league matches happen once every couple of weeks. Quit moaning.
A bit of footy on the telly is a refreshing change.

ITV has 4 tv channels, most of which shows old repeats, back to back repeats of soaps and imported american crap. Why can't they take some of the rubbish off one of the other channels to make room for both? It's not like anyone's gonna be arsed because they've missed a repeat of Rising Damp, Upstairs Downstairs or some programme about disfunctional parents who need an emergency nanny.

On itv3 there's old repeats of Poirot and Midsomer Murders and on itv 4 there's a Clint Eastwood film from 1984. I'd hardly say they take priority over this. Football needs a dedicated sports channel.

Agree. IAC is one of the few programmes I am watching at the moment. There are channels full of old repeats, why one of those cant be removed for IAC, or as you say, put the bl**dy football on a dedicated sports channel, sot that the rest of us can have a break from it.

It was so annoying! There was hardly anything on TV last night which peed me off even more.

It's so annoying when, more often than not, it's on again after News at Ten.

Couldn't they stick a bushtucker trial in at half time?

ITV pay a lot of money to show just one game every round of fixtures so you can understand why they put it on. What i can't work out is why they can't put IAC on before football at half 6 or even quarter to 10 when it has finished, i'm sure they used to show it after the football. Just makes tonight's show more clustered with a couple of trials, the overnight task and bits and pieces from around the camp, fitting it into an hour and half when two hours would be the norm if it was on different nights.

You know, Football SHOULD be on Sky Sports, Not everyone wants that crappy sport shoved in our faces.

All Football is, is overpaid men kicking a ball around for 90 minutes, Nurses/Doctors who save peoples lives should get the money Footballers do imo. Dispise Football, its crap.

I'd much prefer to watch Celebs camp thanks ITV =)”

Well said! What makes me laugh is the people who don't want to pay to watch their precious prima donnas on Sky Sports, are probably the same ones who willingly shell out a small fortune on club shirts etc to remind themselves who they are when they go on holiday.

Actually I would argue it's I'm A Celebrity ... that would've been shoving the football aside (had it done so), as Wednesdays have been ITV's standard football night for a few years now. Football is just retaining its usual Wednesday night slot.

Yeah - that would really go down well in the rest of the UK, if only Scotland got to see I'm A Celebrity ....

ITV's Champions League games will be moving back to Tuesday nights from next season onwards, so Corrie will be moving back to Wednesday nights from next autumn.

So if you're willing to ask all football fans to pay to watch all football on TV, how willing would you be to pay to watch I'm A Celebrity ...?

I wouldn't because I shouldn't have to. I have the right to watch what I want without the schedules being disrupted by football all the time. Also IAC is watched by a wide range of age and income groups. Football fans on the other hand, pay ridiculous amounts to go to a match, buy the kit etc, so they can surely afford to pay to watch it on TV.

What a load of tosh. So, you shouldn't have to pay to watch IAC but people should HAVE to pay for watching football. Hypocrisy? It isn't disrupted "all the time", a quite ridiculous statement.

Not all football fans can afford even to attend matches, let alone buy kits etc. And clearly most can’t afford Sky or its subscriber numbers would be significantly higher. Perhaps there is a significant number whose fix of football is via free-to-air television? Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean others don’t.

I really enjoy IAC but don’t think two or three night's off out of more than three weeks is too much of a hardship.

Perhaps when the whole country has gone digital (I think in time for next year's series) then ITV could think about putting it on another of its digital channels. It will never put IAC up against football because each show brings in ad revenue and one would take away from the other.

I am so shocked and saddened by the news that Gary Speed has committed suicide. He leaves a wife and 2 sons, he was only 42.

I find it incredibly sad that someone finds themself in such a dark place that they see no way out. And I feel for the family so much that they will have to deal with this.

You never really know whats going on inside someone's head do you? Some people are good at hiding their depression and then can't take it anymore

All of his sporting pals coming out today on sky sports, in tears, saying they only spoke to him yesterday and he was in great spirits. Just shows you, you don't know what is going on, when someone seems to 'have it all'. I hope more awareness for depression and suicide comes out of such a tragic story. People need to ask for help.

I think it's much harder for men to deal with depression because they are usually so reluctant to talk about their feelings and seek help, therefore suicide seems the only way out

I agree. I hope this tragic story highlights depression, that if you have everything going for you outwardly, that you are supposed to feel ok, but you don't, so you ignore it. If you feel awful and it's ongoing, go see your GP or talk to someone, there is help out there!

Given that Gary Speed had phenomenal strength and self-discipline, hopefully no depressed person will ever again be told to get a grip

I don't get the mad obsession with football in this country and why it has to dominate and cock up the entire tv schedules. As a bloke, people automatically assume I support football but I can't stand it and all this violent gang attitude that goes with it. You can't go into a pub on match day and get away from the damn thing. Not only do these places have to have the footy on, but they feel it needs to be blasting out full volume on every telly in the pub in every room whether anyone's watching it or not so you can't get away from it. It's either sit there and put up with pissed up lager swigging morons chanting like wild apes or avoid going into pubs altogether. Not everyone wants this stupid sport ramming down their throats.

All that matter are the paymasters I.e the advertisers. Those paying for a slot in the halftime break in football will dictate which takes precedence.
