I love him, he'll be brilliant!

Hope he stays with The Apprentice too, though

As much as I love Nick, I think he would be the wrong choice for Countdown. I just can't see it to be honest.

Oh yes, I can see Nick in the role. If only Margaret could be his sidekick. They are both so funny in their own way. I miss Richard Whitely. Started watching Countdown 20 odd years ago when I was really ill and I just loved him. No-one has taken his place to make me watch it since. But, I will give Nick a go!

Somehow I just CAN'T see Margaret taking on the role previously held by Carol and Rachel!

Well, her shrewd wit and twinkly eyes might help Cannot stand Carol Vorderman. Liked her when she was with Richard but she seemed to have a personality change after that. Like Rachel though. But, still Margaret would have my vote!

God no. He's way too serious. Countdown is supposed to be a bit light hearted. Everything i've seen him on he's had a face like curdled milk. We are NOT amused!

That's just the role he plays in The Apprentice.

Why don't you give the guy a chance?

Actually, Jimmy, that's exactly what he's like in real life. My brother has worked with him and told me he's a complete tosser. A friend of mine worked with him a while back and said exactly the same thing. Miserable as they come, and rude. A terrible choice of host, imo, and totally undeserving.

I have. He was the same when he was a guest on Would I lie to you and the Ask Rhod Gilbert show and The Apprentice, Your Fired. Maybe Lord S still had too much influence on how he behaves in the public eye so feels he has to remain serious and professional at all times or perhaps more closer to the truth he's just a cantankerous old man.

Countdown needs a national treasure to present it not a Scrooge. Unfortunately since the departure of Richard Whiteley the show has become very unstable.

I wonder what odds you would have got if you had bet on this happening?

A couple of people say that Nick is too serious, but if you've seen many series of The Apprentice you'll know that he can be a very funny guy.

I have to be honest though, I think Margaret would have been an inspired choice.

you only need the first 15 minutes of fame, to get a whole other chunk, don't you?
