My friend has got one he is willing to sell at a discount, say £350. It is barely used, as good as BNIB. It is unbranded and unlocked.

He is selling it because he has cashflow issues.

In case you hadn't noticed, Android has a simplistic interface.
When was the last time you carried around a second battery, or had to change one in the middle of the day? I used to carry one around, but then realised its better to charge the device sensibly, and never actually needed to change the battery.
720p camera thats still pretty good
Doesn't need a dual core processor, which is close on mandatory to get Android running smooth

To reply to a few of them .....

No microSD card slot
- 16Gb is plenty for an awful lot of people, and whilst it would be nice to stick your photos on the card I find the sky drive much more useful.

No removable battery
- still lasting over a day in normal use, about the same as HTC and other smartphones. Its warranted so if it goes wrong they can fix it

No front facing camera
- having had one on all my previous phones I still haven't used it once

No flash
- not noticed anything not working so far in Internet Explorer.

A small app store
- Hmmm, well I haven't downloaded the fart app but everything else I needed was there.


This puts me off a little

Only a 720p video camera
- Great pics, no issues unless you like to compare specs.

512 MB RAM
- No issues at all with RAM so far.

No dual core processor
- Not a single slowdown on anything.

Windows Phone 7.5's closed and simplistic interface
- I have no comment for this as I have no idea what it is meant to indicate to me.

It's more expensive sim-free than the Samsung Galaxy S2, which is better
- Is it? Can't say I'm bothered what other phones cost but quick google seems to indicate they are close to one another.

16GB internal storage is the best it offers.
- Haven't even got to 8gb full and whats on there will still mean I have too much. Do you really need ALL your music on it at once?

Saying that, it is a Nokia, which means it's well built and it does look amazing.

1080p is all the rage with mobile phones, but I do wonder considering the lens if you record a scene or the lens' imperfections. It's a matter of personal preference, but I'd rather use a dedicated video camera for proper videos and for other occasions 720p for me is more than enough.

hi guys ...ive been toying with the idea of getting an iphone4s untill nokia announced the lumia 800 and am due to upgrade next week and im sold on the lumia

how good is the built in sat nav

i believe it accepts a micro sim how do i change my present sim to one of these
sorry if my questions are a bit silly but its a long time since i had an advanced phone my last was a n95 and that was a few years ago and it broke pretty much straight away and ive been using a nokia clasic since

A) To set up your social networks, just give the phone your login details for the various networks. It's really easy - just username and password. If you also connect your social networks up at profile.live.com you will only need to enter your windows live account details and it will automatically pull in all the other data for you.

B) Your Xbox Live account is tied to your windows live ID (otherwise known as hotmail), so when you enter this the xbox live app will be able to automatically pull in all your data.

C) The Nokia Drive App is great, I haven't used it much. But I did download and install the entire mapping for england this morning in about 6 minutes. Currently it needs a data connection to do the initial routing for a journey and then it can navigate with only a GPS signal but very soon there will be an update meaning no internet is required at all. Only Nokia phones come with a free fully offline navigation solution. You can't get that on iPhone or Android.

D) Re: micro-sim, ask a phone shop to cut your current sim down, they use a staple-shaped thing to stamp it down.

How customizable are the tiles? is it just choose a color theme? or is that it?

and another thing putting me off, is everything looks so black and white!

^^^ You can choose a basic colour of the tiles although I find blue the best. You can choose if background is black or white, I prefer black. You can choose what you pin to start page. It can be app, picture, game from xbox hub, web page. The last one is nice, it gives an illusion of an app. Tiles can be static or dynamic, in the colour scheme or in any other colour, depends on the author. You can choose a background picture when phone is locked. An app can have one main tile and several secondary tiles. You can have custom ringtones, you can assign a ringtone to a contact, the usual stuff. If you need to control every aspect of the UI then WP7 is not for you, but I'd say you can customise it reasonably well.

The "metro" design style is fundamental to the philosophy in windows phone. Part of that is starkness, by maintaining all-white or all-black backgrounds, it provides much greater contrast to the tiles improving the readability to get the "glance-and-go" effect.

Not all tiles use the colour theme you pick, many have their own logos and look too so choosing what to pin to the homescreen is your main way of customising the phone. Example of app tiles with their own style include sky news, imdb, capital FM, and amazon kindle.

might go get one on contract today then, i will miss my Sky Sports News apps but im sure there are WP7 alternatives???

There is a general sky news app which has a sports category.

There is also the ESPN Goals app which is very good for football.

Iam really tempted to get this phone. Quick question, does wp7 work well with gmail, google contacts and calender or is locked down to hotmail services?

i so cant make my mind up, i think im gonna stick with my iPhone 4 atm as im not sure if i will like the tile look!

O2 won't be getting the phone. They failed to reach an agreement with Nokia. You'll have to go through an independent like Phones4U
