Arnova 8 Tablet
Am being driven mad looking for Android Tablets, daughter wants one for xmas, and our budget is £100 max.
The Arnova 8 is running 2.1 eclair according to the spec in Asda. My question is can you use YouTube and play games on this? its all she wants it for, well that and a small amount of web surfing. Ive tried to stretch my budget for xmas this year but with 3 kids and 2 of them having birthdays within a week of xmas, i can't do it. If the Arnova 8 wont do what I want it to, is there anything else that will? ive seen some very cheap tablets but I can't afford to buy some brand ive never heard of from a seller Ive never heard of and have it die on xmas day. |

Best avoid. It uses a slow CPU which certainly limit long term use.
Tablets on the whole need an Cortex A8 and above CPU so also avoid the likes of the Archos 7 Amazon have a no name ODYS for £100 but Carphone Warehouse are selling off the Archos original flagship tablets 101 and 70. The Archos 70 on-line is at £99. Use Quidco and it is highly unlikely you will find anything near for the same price. It has improved since this review with the Google market no doubt being easy to install too if need be. http://www.reghardware.com/2011/05/23/review_archos_70/ It is worth noting that HMV recently had the 101 at £130 and that sold out very fast. |

I agree with Alan. The Archos 70 is your best choice. It will play Angry Birds and Youtube + web surfing. You can also get blockers (free) for protecting children online and so they don't alter settings. Don't do the update, the USB port WILL die.

Thanks for the replies, Have had a change of plan, as I really do want a good one, so shes going to have it for her birthday instead, Which as its after christmas, we might be able to both stretch the budget and get something better in the sales after xmas.
Have looked up the Archos 70 and it looks good, will prob go for that one. Thanks again! |

This or near to this size tablet has now become the most popular almost overnight.
Even with Appe's Black Friday reductions the Kindle Fire outsold the iPad. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencete...er-Target.html Of course this is 3rd party sales with direct sales from Amazon and Apple ignored and quite unknown. |
